WTB: 5.5Gen 6-Speed HLSD Trans, or trans casing.

The gears are fine but I broke the Trans case (opposite the bellhousing half) What I really need is just the aluminum casing. I'll take an entire trans if the price is right.

HLSD is a MUST.

Supposedly the cases are different part numbers. I'm not sure, myself, just going by GregV. I'm in Tampa area, FL.

for the record, 2 ball bearings fall out when I opened up the casing. I'm not completely sure where they go once I put it back together. Did you notice where they came from? There were just 2 of them, right?

Oh wow, look at that. I'll call them, just to confirm it's the same part.

Is this a common transmission problem?

If you can remember where those ***** went, it would be very helpful, or possibly something like an FSM or however you were able to look up the diagram.

Thanks, guys.

The powertrain is from a 2002, I lucked out that it was HLSD. More on the project here: www.ninety-9.com

I've never seen ANY transmission break this way. It was due to a misshift at the track, the car's making only about 260whp 250tq, I hit the wrong gear, already at around 60 or 70MPH, got a nice clunk and lost all my gear oil. The car still made it home. It looks like the bearing journal that holds the LSD in tried to jump clear out of the tranny. Opening it up, I saw no real damage to the gear set or linkage. I will start repairs once I test the compression in the engine, but so far, everything seems fine. The engine hasn't run in months, so I need to get a small amount of oil on the cylinder walls.

I don't think I have an FSM, if I do it's on my computer somewhere at home. I've opened up transmissions before, nothing new. I wasn't expecting those 2 ***** to pop out the way they did.

Anyhow, I confirmed both cases are the same, LSD or non. Let me know your best price for shipping to a business address in 34677. I'll let you know as soon as I charge up the battery and give it a quick compression test.

I still have to buy 2 brand new Raxles and a few suspension parts that are long overdue.

I cleaned up the car a little bit, charged up the battery, removed the manifold and the plugs and so on. Then I realized that I can't crank the engine to test the compression, because the starter can't mount without the tranny.

Anyway, give me the price and I'll get the ball rolling on this repair.
