Which is better? 2.5" mandral bent pipe, or 3" regular bend?

I ask, becuase I could possibly make my own b-pipe with a regular pipe bender for much cheaper than if I buy a 2.5" mandral bent pipe. My question is, wouldnt they flow about the same?

2.5" is more than fine, even if you have a SC. And Mandrel bent is better than crimp bending.

Well, what I ment is, if I were to get a 3" regular bent pipe, would the flow be about the same as a mandral bent 2.5" pipe? If I could get the same flow for around half the price I would consider doing the 3" regular bent pipe. If not, then I'll just save up and get a 2.5" pipe when I can afford it. Just trying to save some change since I'm having to buy a new tranny ......

You should be more concerned with exhaust gas velocity, not out and out flow(the 2.5 will have a higher exhaust velocity than the 3.0, it all comes down to fluid dynamics). The 2.5" mandrel pipe is DEFINITELY the better choice.

I see what you mean. Makes sense. Let me ask you this then. If velocity is the more important concern though, wouldnt a regular bent 2.5" pipe be better than a mandral bent since the narrowing in the bends would increase the exhaust gas speed? ( Like putting your thumb over a water hose...)

No, because it would increase the turbulance. Smoth air flows faster.

Hehe, that sounds like an add for the Tornado air filter insert.

Smooth air flows faster... exactly why the Tornado doesn't work. My brother called me up the other day asking if he should get a Tornado for his Taurus... I just laughed at him. I would think his Impala-owning roommate is teaching him better.

A cheaper way to do it is to buy some pre-bent mandrel elbows and weld them in place where you need the bends. Easier than finding a shop to bend the pipes for you.

B-pipe

Nightrider, your idea will probably save some money, but unless you have a welder and a shop to fabricate the pipe in, probably better off going with an after market b-pipe. Our new systems are mandrel bent, 2.5 inch and custom bent. Remember, butt welding pipes end to end is the weakest type of weld. Thats one reason Dallas and I only do filet type welds on our y-pipes. We also custom bend the pipe to eliminate as many welds as possible. Call Dallas for details or see our web site. WarpSpeedPerformance.com 1-866-801-9338

I had been checking out Warpspeeds website, but didnt see a price for the b-pipe alone. How much are they, and are they in production yet?

WSP b-pipes

Whitemax, you are correct, we don't have the info on our site yet. We have a shipment coming in. I would call Dallas. We talk almost daily, this was one subject that we didn't talk about. If I remember correctly, we will come in around $200 for aluminized, 2.5" mandrel bent. Please don't quote me, but I believe my price is accurate. Last conversation was keeping them close to $200. 1-866-801-9338
