whats up man? getting the car back...thats sweet!! Did you get the whole thing re-painted or just the damaged part? You should wait at least (3) months before putting WAX on it.

DO NOT use POLISH...this will scratch into the clear and paint!!!

let me know if you need anymore info

3 months is a good time. I got my car back in mid september, and I'm just now getting ready to wax it.

When I had my fender repainted (rolling tire from a Honda van hit my parked car - long story...), the body shop manager told me to wait 30 days to allow the paint to completely "out-gas"

I waited 60 days, then waxed it 3x

The way they put on paint these days with booths, you can put the wax and polish on the next day. The bodyshop highspeeds the car before it leaves with wax and thats the worse way to wax the car anyways.

30 days is good

Let it cure for 30 days. And listen to Swafford, don't use polish!!! Only use a pure carnuba based wax. That should shine like a babys A$$.

Yep, i was told not to wax my car for about a month. I could wash it, not wax it. Make sure you clean bird doodoo right away too.

The reason i was told not to wax it for a month was that all the paint vapors must release. That is also why they told me not to use a car cover. The paint must fully harden which should take about a month as well.

Yup! Its dry to the touch but its still "wet" at surface level.

so a pure carnuba wax is what i need?.... how long till i could use a polish? Before this happened i was using a mixture of carnuba and polyseal (i dont know if it is a polish but it lightly removes scratches. I also got it directly from the nissan dealer... its waht they use in the detail shop. Whats a really good 100% carnuba wax? I was also using zaino b4 the accident
thanks

Meguair's or Mother's has some good wax. You wouldnt need to really use any polish on a newly painted car. Polish is more for cars that have not been wax on a regular bases. Also, do not use the scratch remover... BAD!!!!!!

Didnt answer my question- did you get the whole thing re-painted?

Nope. The bodyshop will buff out the paint w/ rubbing compount, polishing compound and then swirl remover. These products do NOT contain wax, therefore the paint is allowed to "breath".

As Shadow mentioned, 3 months is a good time. It's no biggie anyway. If you are still worried about it, call the bodyshop and ask them. After all, they are the only ones who know exactly what type of paints/cataylsts were used.

Same here. I was in 2 accidents this summer that required repainting a portion of the car, and both times (different body shops) I was told to wait a month before waxing it.
