Is there a way to interface video to our NAV screens?
I was looking to put in a camera or a carputer while utilizign the OEM NAV Screen, is this possible ? I know its doable with a PAC interface on my pathfinder, not sure about the I35 though.
Thoughts ?

You could use the Pioneer PAC interface module, but the problem comes from the screen being a rudimentary RGB display, which receives 3 signals from the navigation computer telling the screen which colors to show - the 3 signals being Red, Green, and Blue.
While RGB displays can show moving images such as DVDs, the quality is very poor because they do not have the lightning quick refresh rate of newer LCDs and they have a very limited color spectrum.
Found this for adding a camera/RCA input to nav systems as an alternative to the PAC module.

That's pretty cheap. I did some preliminary searching around and I think I only found more expensive units. I would like to add a reverse camera to the navi, if i ever get it installed, that is. I am hoping for this weekend, but so far its not looking good.
I am trying to remeber where I saw the other units, but cant seem to. I think I gave up looking b/c the cost with the camera was too high for me to care about. Plus, I need to get this thing working first.

The rear end of our cars are perfect for one of the flush mounted cameras (3rd one up from the bottom of that page I liked to). If I got one, I'd mount next to the license plate and up towards the top - nice flat space and semi consealed under the chrome overhang above the license plate.
(Then again - maybe only on I35s. There's more flat area next to the plate.)

Yeah, i saw that one in particular. I am hesitant to add a camera b/c i park on the street often and dont want to draw attention to the car. I have done the i35 light and license plate finisher conversion so the one you suggest may should work for me also. First things first tho, got get the nav in the car. I have done a bit of wiring (connecting the monitor wires to the corresponding wires of the nav unit, etc), basically just need to connect the power, illumination, gorund, reverse and VSS wires to the existing wiring in the car. Maybe tomorrow, if not it has to wait a couple of weeks.
