Car stalled while idling and after scanning threw a crankshaft position sensor code.

Replaced Crankshaft position sensor and cleared code, and still no start. (CKPS code came right back about an hour later, even with new sensor installed). Checked CKPS harness and tested for spark and it has NO spark, even when bypassing the CKPS sub-harness.

Also tested all fuses and none were blown.

Had it towed up to my mechanic and he tested for spark as well and couldnt get any either. He also did several other tests for voltage with no luck and checked to see if it was getting fuel, which it was. Compression came out ok too.

In his opinion he thinks its the ECM/PCM.

Other codes that came up with CKPS code were 3 o2 sensor codes, malfunctioning/no activity.

So my questions are:

1.) Has anyone had any experience with this kind of situation and how likely is it that its the ECM?

2.) If I buy an aftermarket ECM from Ebay ($140 w/lifetime warranty), where could I send off to get flashed? What are my other options on where I could send it to? Would this be a good time to get the TS reflash?

I would personally like to avoid the dealer if possible, even though I realize I should probably have it tested/flashed there.

Also, does anyone know if the dealership has a problem flashing an aftermarket ECM??

Called and spoke to a Nissan Specialist and he immediately said to replace the camshaft position sensor as well, along with crankshaft position sensor (which was already done). Says he see's it all the time and RARELY see's an ECM go bad.

Going to try this and see if it does the trick.

Please feel free to add anything I may be missing.

So we replaced the camshaft position sensor along with CKPS (crankshaft sensor), and still no start or spark, but still cranking good.

Afterwards, we did a test of three of the sensors from the 5 volt reference voltage (TPS, CKPS, and CPS) to check if they each had 5 volts going to them, and none had 5 volts going to them.

Only thing we can think of that would cause all 3 to not get voltage would be the ECM.

Anyone else have any other ideas? Your help is very much appreciated. Thank you.

ECM or wiring or both. Start by checking all grounds.

 

Are the ECM or wiring the only two things that could cause all three sensors (TPS, CKPS, CPS) to not get a 5 volt reference?

(Other than all 3 going out at once, which is highly unlikely)
