Who fabricated your full swap 3.5 timing ring modified to 3.0 flywheel

Does anyone here know a good shop that can modify the timing ring off a 3.5 to fit the 3.0 flywheel. Im doing a full ECU swap w a 4th gen 5 speed and already have the 3.0 fidanza flywheel.

For those of you that have done this. How did you find TDC and mark it on the flywheel for the machine shop (my flywheel isnt on the engine so I cant just turn the engine by hand and mark it) is there a marking on the timing ring or flywheel that indicates TDC?

Thanks,
Paul

On the 5.5 timing ring there are three groups of 10 notches. TDC is the second notch in CW. It is also about 4 degrees CCW from one of the mounting holes on the 4th gen timing ring.

The position is marked on the two rings and flywheel below.

That's perfect. Exactly what I needed.thanks so much. One question, How thick is machined ring (or the distance between the backside of the flywheel and the edge of the timing ring)

I had my ring lasercut out of 3/8" plate

I agree. thanks! what is the abbreviation in the drawing? PLCS and TYP

And out of the three groups of 10 notches. It makes no difference to which one I choose as long as the second notch lines up with the 4 degree mark as pictured. correct? And then obviously getting it correctly mounted back on the engine with the TDC notch in the right place.

The problem is my engine is running bad, and we came to the conclusion that the timing ring was the problem. We sent it to a shop and had the teeth regrooved. It seems like they look fine, but the engine still runs bad. So I have 2 questions:

1) Where can I get a new timing ring for a 3.0?

2) Is there a particular position it needs to be placed in once we put one back in?

Thank you!

Kinda off topic, but not really...

Doing the full ECU swap but keeping my 5 speed, do I get the 3.5 Fidanza flywheel or the 3.0?

IIRC it would be 3.0 flywheel w/ 3.5 Trigger Ring/timing ring..... (Crosses Fingers)

Correct. You need the 3.0 flywheel and the 3.5 timing ring but it needs to be spaced out....i have one already fabricated if you need it.
