would jumped timing cause no / intermittent spark?
would jumped timing cause no / intermittent spark?

Hi there, I was replacing my timing chain tensioner. however the tensioner piston got locked into the tensioner housing, i only realised this when i started the car and the rattle didn't go away, (even after reving a little to get the oil pressure up). so i took out the tensioner again and made sure the piston was working correctly and put the tensioner back in.
when trying to start the car this time it felt like it was running on 2 cylinders, and only with my foot flat to the floor would it not stall, now if i try the same thing it doesn't start. sort of just "catches" the starter every couple of seconds but doesn't start. so my first thought was its jumped a tooth, however i pulled out the no1 spark plug and connected it to the coil pack (i was checking compression, which is still full ~150psi on all cylinders BTW)and i noticed that after 10seconds of cranking, it would only spark once or twice, and some times not at all. I've pulled codes from the ECU and its returning 5-5. juts for good measure I've replaced the CPS and the REF sensors to see if that helped but still no go. i'm pretty sure the ECU is good because i disconnected the maf, cps sensor and a coilpack and pulled a 1-1, 1-2 and 2-1 codes, reconnected everything reset and it then pulls 5-5.
I just find it really unusual that there is no spark sometimes (i checked the other coilpack and they are all the same), when it does spark its a strong healthy looking spark as well. Any ideas?
