spoiler help
Ok so i bought a used trunk today and i started removing all of the lights locks and once i got to the spoiler i got one nut off and the other three just spin the threaded rod, i assume there is a lock nut in the spoiler that let go, my question is has anyone had this happen and if so how would one go about fix the problem? snap the threaded portion off and use new screws somehow?? or is the spoiler going to be useless??
yaas, the stud has come loose. Do you have enouge sticking out to grab with a vise-grip or something and use an open end to turn the nut. Maybe just pulling on the stud with pliers or vise-grips would give enough resistance to hold the hidden nut. I'd be careful about trying to break the stud, cause you could mess up the spoiler (crack it or something). Can you get a saw blade - like a coping saw - under the nut ?

The make a tool - it's called a Nut Splitter - it's not too expensive - you put it over the nut and use a wrench to turn the the part on the tool - it pushes a wedge into the side of the nut which will give way allowing you to remove the wing from the car. (on the nut splitter think of it as a very small log splitter - it the same concept).
I am changing trunk lid today, I got one with a spoiler on it that I am putting on. I am trying to swap the lock cylinders without destroying the clips. There is a little yellow plastic piece on the end of the rod, connects to the cylinder mechanism. Does anyone know how to get it off without messing it up? Also, after that is done, how does the cylinder come off? it looks like there is a metal piece that inserts in there, does that slide out? Haynes book isn't clear on this at all. Thanks in advance
