Wagner ThermoQuiet Brakes and Rotors

So it seems my back brakes and rotors are completely shot. In order to pass inspection I obviously need a new set. The guy at the shop said Wagner ThermoQuiet pads and rotors are good.

Anyone have these or have used these in the past? Whats your thoughts on this.

The pads model are MKD430

Any experiences with Wagner?

Wagner's are good quality, if they are within your budget don't hesitate to purchase them.

I'm running wagners all around right now because I was in a pinch and needed pads bad. They're all right, I wish I would have gone with a more aggressive pad due to my driving habits.

Wagner Thermo Quiets are their "Top of the Line" brakes. They have several less Wagners also.

They are made by Federal Mogul who also makes Moog who just about everyone would say are the best OEM replacement suspension products around.

I run Wagners on both of my other cars.

They aren't as good as say "Hawks" (which I have on the Max) if you do very spirited driving, but for everyday use and the occasional beating they will serve you well.

And if they are installed right they have very little chance of brake noise.

Just be sure to bed them in right when you get them installed.

Don't bother if you drive fairly aggressive, even on the street. I have them on my car and only because the store I bought my original Raybestos from no longer carries them but rather Wagner ThermoQuiets. They're ok for old lady driving but not something you can be rough on. I experienced the MOST brake fade I've ever experienced before last night during a very hard stop and feel lucky to not have had anyone on my side.

After these are worn, I'm gonna warranty them and toss them on the G/Fs 97 or my 3rd gen and get myself some Hawks

I have some of the cheaper levels of the Wagner brake pads, and next time I am going to bite the bullet and actually SPEND to get something better.

The pads didn't fit and I had to file down the edges so they will fit. From the get-go it seems like they were very sloppily made and the the edges of the pads and everything had casting spills or whatever left on them and had to be filed down. So... as long as those pads you are buying are at least near the top of what they have for pads I think you should be fine. Just don't get overly cheap like I did

I would've just taken them back instead of filing them down! Are you sure you just didnt compress the piston enough?

Oh it was compressed all the way, you know how when you put the pads in, the little square protrusions on both sides of the pad has to go into the thing the calipers go over?

For me the square things were not perfectly square and needed to be filed flat. Sorry its really hard to describe, but if you were to hold a pad and look straight down on it, if you go to the outer edge of backing material of the pad, not the pad itself there are little things that stick out.

If I'm not wrong - backing plate isn't cut correctly to fit into slot.

why not check the group deals/vendor forum - there are two sellers there who offer brembo brake discs and various brands of pads. I've bought brembo blanks and hawk pads from org vendors, with only good things to say. Most folks I talk to are shocked at the prices.

when I've needed parts, the first two places I look are the org vendors and DaveB. I only go to the local parts stores for emergency repair parts.

You can have confidence in them for sure. I ordered and installed Wagner blank rotors and thermoquiet pads in my fiance's 2004 Lexus ES330 over a year ago. They are still very quiet, smooth and have good bite even from the first stop during a cold rainy winter morning. They also dust minimally. So, good move on your part.

I actually used Axxis ULT pads on my old 4th gen and currently use them in my '05 G35 coupe. Slightly more dust, but also slightly more initial bite for aggressive driving which is what I prefer. I wouldn't mind using thermoquiets if I had to.
