remove axle following FSM

according to FSM to remove the front driver side axle, A/T models requires to insert a screwdriver into transaxle opening on the right drive shaft and strike with a hammer. you can pry off the drive shaft with M/T models. is there another method to remove the driver side A/T axle? thanks.

from the FSM, it seems like it can easily pry off the axle from the manual transmission but not from the automatic transmission. have you folks done it on an A/T?

go to home depot and buy a small crow bar, and pry the axle out, works like a charm.

Ive done both transmissions. The best tool is a pry bar but a crow bar works well too. No need to remove the passenger axle.

since space is limited under the car, what length of the pry bar should i get and should i expect tranny fluid flowing out there. thanks again.

Like everyone else has mentioned.. I have a small prybar thats about 18-24 inches long which I pry with and just give it a good whack with a hammer and it pops right out

Mine is 18", fits fine when the whole car is jacked up. I never had any fluid come out of the auto tranny. I know gear oil comes out of a 5spd.

This is good to know since my drivers side outer axle boot is torn. Waiting for the clicks of death...
