Cheap Brake Pads Harm rotors?

Hello Everyone,

I purchased a used 98 max SE and they put on new brakes. I found out that they were probably the cheapest ones you can get just to say they put on new brakes.

A mechanic told me that the cheap pads will gouge into the rotors and make them wear faster...thus told me to immediately change them to newer pads.

Is this true? Or can I wait a bit.

Thanks guys,

lefty.

If the pads are harder than the rotor, they will eat the rotor. I've never heard of cheap pads doing anything except for squealing

Cheap pads won't harm your rotors at all, but they might harm YOU.
