Energy Suspension Bushing Lubricant

Do I need lubricant for the torque motor mounts and the subframe bushings?

I will be installing these this weekend. I have read that polyurethane bushings require silicon lubricant, but I am not sure if this is needed for this application.

Which lubricant should I use if so?

Isnt' there any lube included? When I got Energy control arm bushings I got a small tube of some kind of silicone grease. I know if they're installed dry they will make a maddening squeak.

I'd contact Energy Suspension and ask them. The wrong grease could attack the urethane and that would be not good.

I think it depends on what you get. My ES control arm bushings and front sway bar bushings came with lubrication, but not the subframe bushings, just like yours.

Subframe and MM bushings are not pivot point bushings and don't require grease. However some lube would help with install. Eurethane should be impervious to most lubes.

Okay, bought the motor mounts from the forum, used but never installed, and I bought the subframe bushings from the supplier and they did not come with any.

I will call them and ask if silicone grease is appropriate for the installation. I don't want to spend 6 hours in the 100 degree heat putting these in only to have them squeak like crazy.

are they black or red? I know black ES bushings are impregnated with a minor amount of lubricant, (this I was told directly from ES), but the extra lubricant is helpful because urethane likes to make itself heard in almost every application. the grease that ES supplies is just a very thick synthetic grease, use synthetic, anything petroleum based will eat at urethane and rubber, IIRC silicone is a no no also,

call ES to be sure though, just my two cents

Ok well... just to clarify the other posters:

The Motor mounts and subframe mounts are not pivot bushings, they are compression bushings and dont need lube.

The sway bar and control arm bushings come with a teflon grease and require 'lube to prevent squeaking <--notice prevent, they dont always stay quiet.

I know there have been other reviews for these but I have to say this is one of the best mods for the money ever.

Before when I launched, my wheels would hop up and down, now its smooth as silk. There is less torque steer when cornering under acceleration. Car feels a lot more sporty. When you first fire up the engine the frame shakes, really awesome!

Took 4 hours to do, using a lift, 20 ton shop press, bench vice. The majority of the time was spent using a hacksaw to remove the metal liners which we didn't press out successfully. Then we had trouble pressing the new bushings in with the shop press so we ended up positioning the bushings with the bench vice and then tightening them down, which was insanely and unexpectedly easy. I used a small amount of mobile 1 synthetic, the red stuff. The bushings were the black kind. There was no squeaking after install.
