possible farewell to the maxima...
So, after thinking carefully about finances and reliability i think its time may move on and trade the max in, my first choice which i looked at today was an 03 altima 3.5 SE 5 speed, black on black leather with 63k for 10000, not a scratch or swirl on her anywhere and the wheels are flawless, looks like it just came from the boat shipped from overseas new..... bose system moonroof all the toys minus dvd and navi obviously, but im keeping it real here and thinking that its still a vq engine and with some slight mods it will be nice and last longer....we shall see i guess i put in the application today for the loan unfortunately it was after the banks had closed but hopefully it works out...if it dont my other choice is probably going to be a 6th gen maxi .....idk yet hhowever im still going to stick around here for a while and give my opinions and tips...lol
No 5 speed stick....i know the autos are 5 speed as well but the only altima that comes with a 6 speed is se-r... the 5 speed MT is actually faster in terms of quarter mile and performance... the only thing the 6th gear is really good for is lower rpms and quiter noise inside the car...but this will be a 5 speed manual transmission
well the fact it has 18s and the se has 17s...lighter right there plus the exhaust on an se-r is different too from what im told and the brakes and the front facia is different along with the rear and you need to take into consideration of the gauge pod inside the car....all these things add up to some sort of weight, although we shall see what happens, i dont think i could come to buy an automatic altima, only auto i would DEAL with is definately a maxima... and it would needa be a 3.5
Wheels make a hug difference.
I remember my 2 friends had early 2000's Mustangs and used to race nonstop. They both did the same mods and were ALWAYS head to head.
Once my one friend put on some Cobra" Chrome Mustang Rims (looked nice actually) he was consistently slower.
I don't know how much in the quarter mile to be exact.. but i can tell you.. they were always within 2 feet of each other either way racing, but after those rims.. he would be like 1/3 of a car length and loose ground ever so slightly the entire way.
