Ok Let me get this straight ..(Upgrade?)

First of all I want to congratulate myself for the 15 post min. to be allowed to post your thread ... I am soooo new to Maximas, just got an 08 about two weeks ago ...

My first order of business.. is tints, then the head unit ..

I do not have the bose system .. I understand that I will be losing the vehicle display info screen .. trip, mileage etc .. My question will I atleast have the "door open", temp, info or am I having just a straight up dark blank screen there? I'm a little hesitant to go with the "Nird1" setup due to some not so favorable reviews that I have read around .. your thoughts?

Welcome.

The info screen will not display anything after removing the factory head unit. I use an NIRD-01 and it does mess up every now and then but its nothing a toggle of the ignition doesn't correct.

I've also got the NIRD-01...as DAlastDON said, it goes wonky every once in a while, but as soon as I turn the car off/on, it is fine. It is well worth it for me to keep the info screen. I got mine from Sonicelectronix.com.

As hawaii and Dalastdon said all is true. Mine does the same, after hawaii helped me hook it up correctly, LOL. I got my nird from Cartoys was a bit cheaper i think like 10 bucks but sonicelectronix is a good site as well. good luck, post up some pics

When I hooked mine up, I was installing all of the following at the same time:
Nird-01
Pioneer H/U (since replaced with Kenwood)
Pioneer USB adapter
Pioneer HD radio adapter
PAC steering wheel adapter

Needless to say, I was a bit overwhelmed with all of the wires when I started. Just take your time, and make sure that you double-check all of your connections.

Nothing a few Velcro strips didn't straighten up. All of that is pretty much up behind the heat/ac and info screens.
