Fidanza Flywheel Touchy in First Gear?

Hey all,

I had my Fidanza Flywheel installed for a while and well its very touchy in first gear. Basically if I keep it in first gear and slowly accelerate the car will start to "jump" like someone’s pressing the gas and letting of and pressing the gas and letting off.

Is it just the flywheel being to light and not enough momentum to keep the car going at a lower gear?

If I was to give it the car goes, no hesitations.

Also when going from 1 to 2 when putting it in neutral to change gears it will jump 200 rpms for a moment, is this because its lighter?

Supposable this flywheel is 12lbs.

Does anyone else have this behavior?

Thanks!

I have a spec flywheel which is basically the same weight, so same flywheel. I know what buck you are talking about, but I dont always get it and I dont worry about it cause there is no reason to ever be cruising in first. As far as the 200 rpm thing, just let off the gas for a second before you press the clutch in. Dont wait for the engine to begin decelerating, but let off for a bit and then press the clutch in, it will stop the 200 rpm rev. Basically youre just shifting more slowly to eliminate the rev

I have this issue too, there was a long thread a few years back with a list of everyone who'd experienced this and there clutch/fly brand, called something like "fidanza owners READ" . It generally happens after a gear change with light/medium acceleration, the car 'bogs' and it gives the sensation of something wobbling or even a slipping clutch. It almost always fidanza users who report this. I've come to accept it, and use it as an invitation to rev to 3500-4000 rpm all the time and it more or less fixes it. Believe it or not, fuel consumption seems unaffected.

Was your flywheel insert new?

What you mean is shift faster to eliminate the 200 rpm jump?

I just wanted to confirm that it was caused by the lighter flywheel.

Yah the flywheel was new. Honestly I didn't feel it when my car was stock on an organic clutch. But with this 6 puck stage 3 clutch/lighter flywheel its weird.

Also I guess with FI one would go with a heavier clutch to keep the momentum up or go with a lighter flywheel to go faster in the rpm's?

Well, the maximas that i've driven with some sort of lightweight flywheel also does this same jerking motion in 1st with my foot off the clutch. I have a stock flywheel and it is pretty much smooth. So based on this, i'm ASSuming its normal.
