Thinking twice about my 00vi swap!! Plz help!!

Wats up org?! I'm kinda of a nube to the org but not to a maxima. This is my third maxima. I have a 97 gxe that I wanna do a vi swap on. I have a complete de-k motor. I'm just not to comfortable doing such a swap myself. It's kinda confusing due to the several ways this can be done. What would be the best way to do this with out getting any codes? I live in Connecticut. I really want to do the swap. If there is anyone local that has done it and is willing to guide me in the right direction or help me troubleshoot if Anything pops up then I would give it a try. I have pics coming soon. I'll give it a try if I get enough support from my fellow org members.

Basically, I don't wanna stay without a car for over a week and I also don't want to ruin something.car is my dd. Please help! Any input is greatly apriciated. What should I do.

I forgot to mention that I never saw the motor running and do not know the actual milage. With that said, I don't want to swap the motor out.

Use the search function. No REALLY USE THE SEARCH!

I'm also a newb, I'm also getting an 00vi soon (as soon as I pay for it =P)
But I already know how to do it, what are the 8 different setups, the pros and cons of each, and where to find a picture guide.

So, SEARCH!

I would swap in all de-k components.

Read everything you can find about it, re-read, and re-read again.

I been doing lots of research. Do I have to tap any holes to use all the components on the de-k?

no not if you use all 00vi parts if you do half and half you'll need to do some modding for it to fit properly.

There are ALLOT of tools/threads on this forum available to help you with your cause (slightly finished 00VI manual, threads in the all motor section, tantako's site if it's still up and still even much more).

I'd do a 00VI swap then practice playing doctor on engine internals with the DEK just lying around

I am doing #6 swap some time next month. I personally think the full 00VI is more difficult swap. I bought an already modified setup with a 4th gen lower, but to me it seem the easiest (no tuning require to drive it).

http://tatanko.boredmder.com/news.html

I wish I had found that website while I was research an 00VI (I found links but the links were dead)

SEARCH or at least check how-tos. A while back I found a manual for the different installs. Cant remember the site, but i kno the link was on the org.

Listen to AJ, motor swap prolly easier.

Its easier because you bought your lower modified. I've done almost all versions of the swap and having all 5th gen parts was 100% the easiest.

swap everything from the 5gen that's what I did I used 5th gen LIM,UIM,TB,injectors, fuel rail,EGR block off plate,4gen IACV,after market fuel presser regulator and as far as tuning go's I got a wide band and a AFC neo and my AFC neo opens the VI as far as running rich I made my adjustments on the AFC sounds like a lot but it was all worth it in the end.

the full dek component swap is the easiest...i prefer the 4th lim because i have no way to tune but its a lot of customization like custom block plate and adapters drilling the 4th gen lim etc

I don't want to swap the motor because I don't know the milage or if it was a good running motor. Why would I need to tune. And how would it run without tuning? The de-k has a egr valve, so do I need to eliminate it or...

A full 00VI swap uses the larger 00VI injectors. Its going to run rich with the larger injectors.

It will run rich due to the larger DE-K injectors. My AFR was in the low 10's before a tune. Your DE also has an EGR. The DE-K EGR guide tube will swap over.

no...to use your A32 (4th gen) injectors you need to either turn the LIM (lower intake manifold) 180* or drill new holes

How can I go abouts tuning the car? I plan on running a dry kit nitrous system. I already have cattman headers and exhaust, light flywheel, upgraded clutch and a used ecu that was tuned with this setup. So they said it was tuned. It has a 120 mph cutoff. Is there any stock ecu that has this cutoff or is it def tuned?

The only ECU that come tuned are JWT technosquare ECUS and they have a sticker on them the only one that has a 120mph cut off is the stock GXE ECUs...you got ripped off if you dont have a sticker and have a cut off

the only way that you can have a tune on the stock ecu is by having a vafc or a safc tuning program and a wideband O2 sensor or having a tuning place adjust your AFR accordingly

on the forums though there is a library of information all you need to do is search there are a TON of 00vi swap threads on the ALL motor section.
