Hi,,, i just install my cattman header 2 days ago.. but dont like the sound and the CEL i have on.. So i would like to Trade if anyone interested for their OEM Header+pre Cat+ heating sheild plus all the bolts and nuts.

I need to recive your item 1st, because i need the car to drive.. You pay for your shipping. i will pay for mine.

Deciding to flush $800+ down the drain (plus the cost of two installations!) because the headers are likely matched with the wrong exhaust system (perhaps "custom"?) and a check engine light that is very possibly not associated with the headers since CELs should NEVER be a problem with an 04 Maxima... That's pretty incredible. And he gave up on this after just 2 days?

Also a real good reminder to NEVER throw away the stock equipment you take off.

I did everything Cattman headers proper installation.. And yet .. Its hurting me ..

No, I've read through your comments on my6thgen and you didn't scratch the surface in terms of getting this properly diagnosed and installed. Why didn't you call us? Get ahold of Harjit, he should be able to help.

 

+1 Harjit should be able to fix this problem really easily.

 

I'll point out a few things that are worth mentioning, and I don't do this as a criticism of the guy that started this thread. I simply don't want others to be scared off of considering headers by problems that really shouldn't be issues in the first place.

After communicating directly, I've found that he didn't purchase the headers from us, so I never had a chance to provide some of the information we ordinarily provide to customers. He also overlooked our instructions on wiring, and cut into the O2 pigtails (NEVER do this, splice or extend from the harness wiring).

He is also using the headers with a modified stock y-pipe, which can be done temporarily - like while someone saves up to buy a performance y-pipe - but we don't encourage that because it doesn't allow the headers to flow the way they should.

sorry guys.....I don't do this as a criticism of the Cattman Header, that they don't help you out if you dont buy their product directly from them.. However, If u dont mind losing MPG, and wanna live(deal) with CEL,, Then cattman Header is ur best choise. Keep that in mind i am not getting any code for the secondary sensor... All im getting code for is... Primary sensors (p1273 & p1284) which is bolt on to the headers) ..i admit i did overlook the instruction.. time for the correction,, i did broguht 2 new sensor and extend the plug wire not the sensor. THe code still remain,

P.s -- The car runs perfect even with the code, no vibration, no loud noise, no leak, ...I personally thought headers increases ur MPG along with HP. After the problem i took my time and did little research on google and other source even better talked to people who is currently have headers.(do your self a favor --and do the same) most of them Have/living with CEL, They simple don't care cuz,, they chose power over MPG, Power Over CEL, ----- Just to be exact,, Guy name flix who is helping me going back to stock, His uncle have/had header since they came out and he have CEL since then, ------I am sorry,, I am not that rich to .. run my car rich, when i do 100% of driving in brooklyn/local,, And im getting 9.5 MPG.

Since the front(radiator side) of header is easy to take out.. i will remove that one and put stock one and use the same sensor to see if that will t/c of one sensor. IF it does .. then i am sorry it's the header to blame. If it will not then i will ..personally say sorry to All of you --and give the cattmanheader for Discounted price( or never sell it). iF anyone will be interested then... As you can seee i am still fighting to keep it .. for power even though i am getting 9.5 MPG. --- I just want the problem to be fixed..

I don't want to beat this thing to death, but I've got to respond to a couple things.

1. We do help people who don't buy their products from us, I spent time on the phone with this guy, although I can't say our conversation was very productive.

2. Sorry your installation hasn't worked out, but do not come back and try to tell the world its our headers, or that you know about this topic, because you do not. Get rid of that funky stock y-pipe, quite trying to do this on the cheap, and find someone who knows what they're doing to do the installation.

3. Your "research" is biased if all you are looking for is confirmation of what you choose to believe already. Have you stratified your results based on the year of vehicle?

4. MANY header owners - especially anyone with a 04 or earlier car - run these without any CELs, and if they run on one car that way, they'll run on all cars that way. Every header set is the same, the only variable is the installation. Primary sensor codes on 04 and earlier Maximas are practically unheard of.

5. 9.5 miles to the gallon? That is freaking absurd - how can you say your car is running perfectly if the gas mileage has been CUT IN HALF? Headers substantially improve engine operating efficiency and we get MANY reports of gas mileage increasing by 2-4 mpg. As I told you on the phone - and you chose to ignore - if the gas mileage falls off that is DIRECT evidence that something is wrong about the installation (dump that y-pipe). There is no greater proof that something is wrong about the way you've installed these headers.

6. Don't bother experimenting with something you don't understand, you won't prove anything. Just call Arjit.

....Guys ... Listen i did call harjit .. I explained to him what was happening. HE told me, he can't gruanteee that Cel wont come after Header installation. He also said there are some cars( same year same Models) ->> header was installed, and some of them came out perfect and few of them with CEL ..Those who came with CEl... No matter what they did CEL still remain.. long story short.. Based on Harjit ... IF you are Lucky u won't get Cel.. but Dont for get you might end up with CEL.. there is no gain in lies.. I understand CATTMAN want to sell thir product.. sure Dear cattman ur most welcome.. But please kindly don't put someone down with ur lies cuz you want to sell your products.

Ps... Business people use their Brain -- only thing they care about is how to make money.. They get rich from our hard working money .. You Cattman is a businessman too .. and you are no exception..-----When a company make a product .. they will do anything to sell it to the customers... or else they will lose business and end up being a begger on the street...A company will never admit or say that their product is bad or defective....
