Now, if you managed to find some miraculous way to roll the windows UP with the factory key fob, then I'd be impressed.

Haha, when I first bought the remote (My car came without a remote) I was excited and tried out everything and after I got my windows down with the remote it started to drizzle and I couldn't figure out how to roll it back up with the remote. I stood there for like 5 minutes messing with buttons and combination of buttons. And after my alarm went off, truck was wide open, and windows were all down, I said screw it and went in the car and rolled it up the good ol fashioned way.

What I fail to understand is why the 4th and 6th gens have this feature, as does my Z, but Nissan decided to leave it out on the 5th gens.

What trim level do you have?

I have a base model 02 SE...and I'm pretty sure I've never been able to get my car to do it. Maybe I'm doing it wrong.

Literally just found this out, and ran out to my car barefoot at 1am in 50 degree weather to try it out. Yeah I'm pretty much a child...

I wonder if it was optional on the 5th gens/5.5 gens. I've held the unlock button down for 15-20 seconds with no result.

On my Z, all I have to do is hold the unlock button down for about 7 seconds, and the windows come down.

Maybe I've got a bad relay or fuse somewhere or something. I never thought about that. Guess I'll have to dig through the FSM...

That's pretty cool. I didn't realize you could roll the windows back up by turning the key over to lock, too.

It's a nice feature and all. But I still prefer the "hold down the unlock button" method.

I rarely, if ever, use my key to unlock the car.

Reading back through Google to see if there was some kind of TSB for this feature on the 5th gens, I stumbled on this: http://www.topix.com/forum/autos/nis...GHIBGO21O8HMC4

It looks like a lot of 5th gen owners were having issues with the feature deciding to roll the windows down at random, and were having the feature disabled as a result. Maybe that's the situation with my car. Guess I'll have to tear it apart and check all the fuses and wires...

Edit: More reading found me an archive from the org mentioning some kind of SECU that's been known to go bad in the 5.5 gens and cause the function to stop working. If that's the case, it's not worth a $315 part to me...

On a side note, someone mentioned the "Maxima forums" as being a good place to search for an answer. So I don't think our community is quite as unknown as most members think.

For some reason Nissan removed the window roll down feature from the 2k and 2k1 and put it back in for the 5.5 gen.

You can add a window roll up module to roll them up when arming with the factory remote. Easy peasy.

And to keep whipping a dead horse, did you know that all 4 doors will unlock with the key fob?
