Anybody managed to change the dash illumination color?
Anybody managed to change the dash illumination color?
So I hate the orange interior in my Maxima, especially now that my radio is blasting out that beautiful Alpine blue color. I'm itching to change out some bulbs or something and move to blue illumination inside of the car. Toss in some LED bulbs to change the stock lamp colors and I think it could be epic for the Maxima interior. I also want to do the A/C controls but I might have to live with the orange screen for my A/C display. (I'm working on that though)
Any thoughts? Anybody seen any kits or anything?

Seeing as you've done this before, got any advice for those of us who might want to try it?
I was afraid of that. I suppose i'll just wait for a kit to come out or figure out something else. I'd want to do everything, even the power window switches and such. It's definitely going to be a lot of work! Who knows, maybe that will make it all that more special to me and I'll make it my winter project.

Just take your time and be careful. The door switches and such are easy, it's the dash that's a pain in the *** since you have to take the needles off etc etc. Also the 350 had a RPM rev indicator to accurately sync the RPM needle back to. I'm not sure if our maxs have that. Also different colors draw different amounts of current so the color you pick is going to determine what resistors you need to get. Really it's the dis/assembly that's more tedious than the actual soldering.
In the 350 i also had an alpine head unit so i didn't have to worry about that so i have no experience with that. I'm sure it's the same process, but i haven't taken a factory head unit apart to be sure.
