thinking of 3.5in' my 4th gen

I saw a few nice REBUILT 03' vq35de engines with the oil filter facing 90 degrees(toward the rear of car) from where the Maxima's engine oil filter faces(toward the inner rh fender). The engines look legit but will it work or not? Please dont flame me
Only reason I ask is because I can't find anywhere online that has 03' specific Maxima vq35s that are under 50K miles...I searched JDM and everything, so this is my next option unless someone can help.
forget what i said above
Can anyone point me in the right direction for low mileage vq35s?

car-part.com, thats where i found my vq for cheap from a junkyard. BTW idk what vq's you are looking at. Have you done any research or read any threads on vq35 swapping, if not i suggest doing so b.c. all the info you need is in here. The search button is very useful as well.
Good luck.

If you're looking for a low mileage VQ35, get one from a '04-'08 Max. They generally have lower miles when totaled.

Car-part.com is a great site to get one at a great price as well.

Thank you, and yes I've been reading on the swapping of timing components as I will be reusing my ECU. I have read of people doing the 02-03 VQ35s nothing on 04-08...Will those even fit without mods?
This is the rebuilt engine I was talking about, It says 02-up Maxima for application, but no way can I afford it:

yeah dude, you are looking at RWD VQ35's. You need to find one from a FWD based vehicle. Off the top of my head you can get them from maxima's, altima's that came with the VQ, Muranos, Quests. You should check out my build thread, and other build threads so you can get an idea of everything.

Is it ok not to have the continuous variable timing control? Do people do the 3.0 timing component swapover because they just don't want to buy the 5th gen ECU?

There is more to it than just slapping in a 5th gen ECU. It is cheaper and easier to swap over to the 3.0 components and use the 3.0 ECU and wiring harness.
