Thoughts on installing or custom fabricating a a Neutral Switch on manual

Hey guys,

I have a 2k2 6-speed Maxima. I had a viper alarm/remote start installed over the weekend which has a manual start protocol, it will not start unless you set it up before you exit the car. Which is annoying.

Some cars like the Mitsubishi Evo have a manual neutral switch, this is extremely handy because with a remote start you wouldn't have to stage the manual protocol before you leave the vehicle every time you want to use the remote start.

The questions:

Do any Nissan's like the newer Maxima's, 350z's, etc have a manual neutral switch?
Have any of you custom fabricated one?

If I could get a neutral switch installed on the car we could wire the remote start in automatic mode so that the car WOULD NOT start if it's in gear.

Any ideas? I'll take anything. No answer is too dumb!

You should be able to locate the NSS on the ECU Diagram for the year model Maxima you need and connect it there. You will still need to bypass the clutch part though.

I actually had an idea.

The viper 5901 has a turbo timer feature built in. I COULD enable this feature thus allowing me to exit the vehicle while it's still running (That would require me to take my foot off the clutch) since there is a 2min runtime after you turn the car off.

Best idea I've come up with.

A guy in another one of my treads said there was what he thought a neutral safety switch on top of the 6MT transmission.
Of course that could be a reverse switch too.

I love the Viper 5901 so far. The battery life on the remote is great though it feels a little cheap. The range is phenomenal. The system itself has a ton of features.
