Changing Auto motor mts OEM to ES..... WTF???

Got the electric motor mts out, and got the ES bushings in thru the mail. Here's the problem...... The ES bushings are @ 1/4" smaller than the mount. Searched and don't see a problem like this come up. Are the manual ones a little smaller. The ES website shows they will fit, just don't have the electric function. The #'s match on the box, and on the bushing thats stamped. Anyone give me some ideas, so I don't have to spend $350 on new electric ones........ Mike

you didn't search enough. you need to swap out your automatic electronic mounts to manual non electric motor mounts. you can buy the motor mounts from a 4th or 5th gen maxima if i'm correct and use those. then you can put the es inserts in the non electronic mounts. and yes, electronic mounts are bigger.

edit: you can find cheap motor mounts either on ebay or junk yard

What he means is:

1. Get a mount BRACKET from a manual transmission Max

or

2. Get OEM mount.

Or you could have someone manufacture a collar that the ES bushings get pressed into, and then wedge the collar into the AT motor mount. It's been done, but the precision has to be perfect. Probably easier to buy a MT motor mount from a junkyard, rip out the old bushings, and press your new ES bushings into it.

Well, "easier" is a relative term. The easier thing would have been to realize MT mount inserts are different from AT on our cars, and plan accordingly.

Good luck, OP. It's a PITA now, but when you're done you'll be happy for sure.

I believe this is what Rochester is referring, I am lucky to have a toolie that lives near bye who fashioned this one for my car

But as suggested you can pick up a manual front engine mount and have your ES bushing pressed in

Correct, it doesn't. It DOES say manual trans only, though.
