Anyone had issues using K&N Filter on 2009 Maxima stock intake?
This question might be completely pointless, because I'm looking at the Stillen Intake, but wanted to ask anyway.
Has anyone had any issues using the K&N filter on their stock intake for the 2009 Maxima? Reason I ask is because I've read about the oil on the filter voiding part of the warranty due to the oil getting on sensors.
Is the only real benefit of the K&N filter that I never have to buy another? Or are there performance/MPG improvements as well? Seems like if there is risk to void warranty and not much improvement, I might as well get another stock filter.

I have the drop in K&N filter. I needed a new filter real bad and K&N was cheaper then OEM. I haven't noticed an increase in anything to tell you the truth. No MPG change, and doesn't seem any quicker. I do plan on buying a CAI or SR in the future but for now this will do.
I've had no issues with K&N and yes you need to be careful with the oil, the best thing to do is to spray it good and let it sit up overnight on a towel so the excess can bleed off and then wipe it down and install it.
Most intakes aren't really gonna net you all that much in the HP/TQ arena anyway, they just sound good when they're wide open.

Or do you mean more generally that intakes do not increase performance? I'm not sure I agree with that because I put an Injen CAI on my 02 Sentra SE-R and it definitely had improved acceleration. Two main things I noticed were that it sped up much quicker from 0-40ish and the sound was awesome.
I don't want to put in an intake just for the sound though, at least not yet if ever. Right now I want to focus on performance tweaks such as intake/springs/sway bar/strut bar.
