New Sentra?

well, it looks like i might be getting a new car this summer before i go to college and my parents are going to help me pay for part of it. i really want a 02' max but too much $$$. so then i looked into the WRX but still, too much $$$. SO, what about the new Sentra se-r spec-v? it's about as fast as my maxima now and it comes with a 6-speed! what motor does it have? SR20? and is the aftermarket for it bigger than for the max? if all els fails i'll just buy a newer 4th gen.

I think you should talk them into letting you buy the WRX.

Get the newer 4th gen, cuz well, the reviews on the new Sentra spec v weren't that great, well they were good, but it's just that the engine isn't putting out as much power as it should which is proven on their dyno #'s of SC mag a few months ago. They did the 1/4 in like 15.6-7, an auto 4th gen could easily do that with a drop in K& N. And the WRX would be really great, but you prolly need to be realisitc, you're going to college, college kids are poor.

i agree that the sentra isn't that fast but i did ask this, is there a big aftermarket for it? btw, a drop-in k&n doesn't do jack shlt. i wish i could get a WRX though!!!

You guys keep talking about the wrx. He said specifically that it is ruled out! So lets move on from the WRX (as ugly as it is) and talk bout a 4th gen or Sentra Spec V. I say go for the Spec V it is going to have a lot of aftermarket support and is a reasonably priced car for what you get. There will be aftermarket turbos, body kits, etc etc. So no worries on the aftermarket support. If you go with a 4th gen make sure you get a 5spd fo' sho'

It has the same 2.5 as the new Altima base model.... 175 hp, limited slip, and 6 speed. Not bad for 18,000. And yes the aftermarket for it will be bigger than the max.

exacly my point, drop in doesn't do jack sh*t, and that is why a stock auto max would do 15.7 in the 1/4, prolly, if you want aftermarket supprt, get the Spec V, if you want luxury and a 15.2 stock 1320 foot time get a 5spd 4th gen Maxima

well now that it seems as if my post has been taken over..... i already have a 4th gen 5spd so if i get another 4th gen it will DEFINATELY be 5spd. i will probably never drive another automagic
the only reason i brought the sentra is because i figured there would be a larger aftermarket, but i still wanted opinions. what do u guys think about the new civic si??? it's P-H-A-T (btw, that was a JOKE!!!!!)

dude, if you already have a 4gen 5 speed then just keep that, I drove the new sentra 6 speed, and it's nice, but it's not as nice as the maxima, it doesn't have as much power, and you would still need to replace a suspension if you really want something sporty, even though the suspension on it was really nice, I was impressed, but I wouldn't bother if I were you, keep the 4th gen 5 speed, save up some $$$ and get the car you want

just a suggestion

The Sentra is a cool car...

But it not fast, and could not hang with a 5spd Max (maybe barely beat an automagic). And plus I think one would get tired of that WHACK interior after a while...

pheh, magazine racing....an owner got a 15.2 the other night by me at the track in a stock SpecV. not bad for a $17k car. oh and it makes 19% drivetrain loss, just like the rsx, eclipse, and plenty of other cars.

ok, i've made my decision. i'm going to drive my 4th gen until it dies and by that time i will have enough money saved up for the new 350Z.
