Some VE parts questions...

So, I've had this VE project since March of last year (2010). I got it from MP3Car not running (the water pump belt broke and it overheated and died) I recently got the heads back from the machine shop and I've got a few parts left that I need to get before I'm ready to go back together with it. Those being:

1. Oil pan gasket(s)- I can't seem to find a consistent part number for the VE (the half moons that go in each end)

2. Is there just an engine harness available for the VE? The one thats on it now would probably work but it's been modified/chewed up a bit from previous owner. I just wanna see if somebodys got one (92 VE5, Fed. Spec) that's in good shape and they would want to let go of or if anyone knows the right part number to get it from nissan.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated folks.

Thanks

Umm the half moons your going to have to order from nissan or like some of these guys would tell you maybe rockauto.com.
your harness your looking for if brand new from dealer can easily be very very expensive depending which harness it is. Becuase there are sub harnesses connected to the main harness. Call nissan to get prices on them.

If you order from RockAuto you'll have to order two of their "kits". I don't know why but for some reason they can't seem to get the VE oil pan gaskets right. The VE requires two equal size half moon gaskets, yet all the aftermarket kits sold by RockAuto (and I assume virtually all other aftermarket retailers) give you a kit with one VE gasket and one (much smaller) VG gasket. Even the Beck/Arnley kit is like this. Last time I ordered from RockAuto I got two "kits" for like $15 which is still much cheaper than OEM.

Like Elusive said to get that harness OEM might be pretty expensive. You could probably look it up on courtesy parts though. Your best bet would be to buy the harness from a part out on here or at a junkyard.

Thanks for the help guys. I'll post an ad in the classifieds for the harness. Courtesy gives a couple different sub-harnesses for the engine bay (1. An engine sub-harness $98.51. 2. An EGI Sub-Harness (knock sensor). And an unavailable engine control harness (it lists the front injector bank availability for the VG but unavailable for VE). I'll get on roackauto get another one of thos gasket kits, ive already got one.

what part of the harness are you looking for? I'm sure I could haul out a harness fairly quickly out of a 92 SE I have

The whole control harness (injectors, cps, tps, all of it). Its for a VE5. I actually dont think I need the sub harness for the rear injectors, and i just got a new KS and harness for that as well. Is the engine harness the same for a 5-spd and an Auto?

VE 5 and VE auto harnesses aren't the same..

Very similar but not quite. For example, if you put in the VE auto harness you won't have use of the power valve, etc

When I did my VE auto swap I swapped in an actual VE 5 engine harness so that I could have a "true" VE 5.

The rear injector harness is the same

Yeah, I forgot about the power valve. The rear injector harness is fine, I checked it a little bit ago. Its just the main harness that comes through about mid-way on the firewall and has everything else that hooks to it. Thanks for the help guys.

I bought a spare VE5 harness off the org and it was for like $200.00 IIRC.

I have a full VE5 harness from my engine swap a couple years ago. If you don't have a lead on one yet, shoot me a pm with a reasonable offer & we'll go from there.
