WTB: 6-Speed Trans (HLSD if possible)

I need a new 3.5L 6-speed transmission.

I also have a SpecV QR25 6-Speed transmission (HLSD) up for sale as well.

 

im also lookin for one of thos trannys with hlsd, so if by any chance u find more than once place with the tranny , can u send dem my way or hit me with a pm with the location thanks.

 

Are you willing to ship the SpecV tranny to the UK please? What's the milage? I'm really only after the HLSD but willing to pay for the whole thing if you can take the LSD out and only send that as it'll save on shipping!

Unfortunately, crating and shipping a transmission that far is not an option for me, not to mention disassembly of the modern 6-speeds are much more complicated than I expected (I disassembled my old maxima one).

I think I may have found a Maxima HLSD trans for a good price, but I'm still keeping an eye out for other deals.

For the record, the QR25 trans is not going to be sold until the VQ35 trans is in my hands. Reason being, if I can't get a full VQ35 trans, I will have to do the Bellhousing method, which means I'll be using the QR25 trans for donor parts.


Back on topic, If anyone can beat $900 shipped for a 6-speed HLSD 2002+ Maxima Trans, hit me up.

 

^^Not to clutter up your thread, but why don't you want to go the Spec V/bellhousing swap route anymore? Is it too expensive, or can you not find someone to swap the gears over? I'm just curious b/c I've been considering going that route myself, being that I can't find a Maxima 6spd HLSD for a decent price anywhere and Spec V trannys are cheap and there are plenty in yards around where I live.

 

Mostly because of the complexity of the project, and the cost isn't much better.

If you can get a SpecV trans for $400, you still need a bellhousing for $300. Disassembly of the trans and reassembly is a pain in the ***, I've already disassembled one. There are 4 check-***** with springs and caps, plus several check-***** in between the shaft to prevent more than 1 gear from being selected, they're time consuming to remove and replace. The fork shafts come out in a certain order, you also need a pin punch to separate the forks from the shafts, then you can pull the shafts, once all the forks and checkballs have been removed, you can finally remove the 3 stacks and the diff. Removing the bearings and journals is another task that requires a puller.

The main issue I have is that you need a special micrometer to measure the depth of the new casing and shim the shafts and bearings, I don't have the tools to so that. The shafts plus shims have to be the same depth of the new casing to within .002".

I would say a 6 hour project if I could get my hands on the right tools.

 

Question for you guys, by looking through the Diff of the tranny how can you tell if it has an LSD or not? I believe i heard if you can see through the other end it has no LSD, correct?
