5.5 AT to 5-Speed
5.5 AT to 5-Speed
Ok, so im nearly 100% sure that ive seen it on the forums before, and i've been searching relentlessly throughout the forums via the search tool and google, and havent found anything! Heres my situation, about a month and a week ago, i changed my ATF after 50k ( ihave 147k) and my AT lost 3rd and 4th gear. Ive been riding like that for a while. Anyway, I got a quote for 1100 for a complete rebuild w 3year unltd mileage warranty, but am now thinking if its my only option. Ive found a local guy on craigslist who is selling a 5speed transmission w lightweight flywheel, exedy stage 1 clutch, and an ecu... he had it mated to a vq35 w/ 45k on it that hes already sold. How much, could i offer for that transmission? heres the link...

Also, if i get this for cheap (and those headers too) how much should i expect to pay to get it installed? Also, if anyone is in the miami, broward area, where can I go to get this done PROPERLY? Thanks everyone

In before OP gets told to search.
I will save you the trouble because I too entertained the idea before I found a 5speed for sale. Yes it can be done, in my searches I found at least one that had been done. No it's not as simple (and that wasn't simple) as the 4th gen. No it's not worth doing. Firstly you have to acquire more than just the transmission (which you are already off on the wrong foot on, at least do a 6 speed to the VQ35) some other parts you would need besides the clutch and ECU would include the M&S cylinders, pedal system for a MT, shifter box thing, some cables no doubt, and I believe you also have to modify the crossmember. You also have to modify your instrument cluster to cover the gear selection indicator as this is not present on a MT.
That is a general summary but the gist of it is that it would be better to find a MT Maxima and get that rather than convert the one you have.

Those parts ,from the look of the photos, look busted and rusted ... I would not trust the words of the seller ....... You don wanna end up with junk parts ...
