I started occasionally getting a burning oil smell and after investigation and search I think my issue is either the rear (right) valve cover gasket or the valve cover, or both. I have been looking through threads and need clarification for the 2000- there seems to be a good bit of talk about the 3.5 and different years. For the 2000 3.0 is there a different year (part) that works better? I guess I'll call Dave B and get a new gasket and valve cover, just want to get the right one. I have no issues as far as drivability (yet) just the burning oil smell on longer drives. My front (left) looks good. Of course I'm in no rush but want to do it "right" when I change it out.

i'm about to start doing my VC gasket for the same smell. get a mirror and look back there..chances are you will see seepage at the rear VC gasket.
