AT Rebuild

Ok, so i guess now that I have no other options, I am going to go for the AT rebuild! I just wanted to know who on here has had their 5.5Gen Transmission rebuilt, and how much you paid. Im getting quotes from anywhere between 1100 and 5500... Whats realistic? How much SHOULD I be paying? Should i do a full rebuild or only replace what i need?

If you have yours rebuilt, it should be around $2K. But its hard to find a good shop that knows what they are doing.

yea thats the issue im having... There are alot of places down here that can do the rebuild, however, like you said, finding someone who knows what they are doing is quite hard. I did find one person, Dr. Transmission (http://aaadrtransmission.com) who would do it for 1100 with a 3 yr unltd. Mileage warranty. He seems legitimate, been around for a while, and overall has a pleasant telephone demeanor. Im gonna take it in Monday for a diagnosis and see whats up. As far as the shift kit goes, I dont know, but do you guys think that a kit would Void the warranty? because a 3 year unltd is pretty sweet...

I would think that the warranty would only cover daily driver type use. If you run your car at the strip all the time or do road races, I bet the warranty is void. To me, a shifter shouldn't void the warranty but it implies other than "normal" usage. But you really need to ask them, not us.

Also, ask them if they rebuild your transmission or if they swap it out with a rebuilt one. Rebuilts have a lot more problems than if they rebuild yours.
