Extended Warranty Help- FLORIDA??

Just picked up a 2011 Max SV on Friday and I'm loving it. Never bought an extended warranty before but considering for this one. Drive between 20-25k miles per year and plan on keeping this ride for at least 6 years. Looking at the 60 month/100k mile bumper to bumper. Delaer has a plan where it is $0 deductible if I take to them for $1300 and a $50 deductible everywhere else. I won't likely take to them as they are far away (but they had the best price for the car). Here are the questions: Since I live in FL there is no negotiating the warranty like many other states. Yet I see other dealers (most notably that one out in California) offering Nissan warranties in all 50 states. The dealer has a United Service Protection, Inc warranty which is well rated by the BBB. Having no experience with these warranties I am leaning towards going with the dealer plan but would love to know if anyone in Florida has had any dealings with the out of state offers? Last thing I want is to spend that kind of money to find that the warranty isn't honored around here. Any thoughts, opinions, recommendations from other Florida Nissan owners would be greatly appreciated.

An extended warranty is never a good idea. It's very hard to get a claim approved. You need to prove that you followed the mfg. maintenance schedule to the "T" with documentation to prove it or they reject you. Anything aftermarket on your car, they'll reject a claim. Read the fine print before you sign.

Search Google for more information and explanations as to why they usually are not worth obtaining.

.
That's not true. They can sometimes be a drag, but with proper maintenance, and regular oil change intervals, you're sure to have zero issue with a claim...

Have you ever had any dealings with these companys?

I sure have. The shop I worked at actually started refusing work on cars with extended warranties. Why you ask...??? Because the fight to get the customer paid was totally not worth our time. Got a receipt for that last coolant change? Was the dealer's recommended coolant used? Was it done as per the vehicles mfg. maintenance schedule? Was it an approved shop? Oh you can't prove that, did it yourself??? Your blown water pump claim is DENIED..
Aftermarket wheels and tires, 17 inch rims, your vehicle calls for 16 inch rims. Your transmission claim has been DENIED.
And there is nothing you can do about it either.

Yes, these are all true stories. Been there, done that for many customers. Do some research and you'll find out the truth behind these extended warranties.
More importantly, read the fine print so you know exactly what's required on your end of the deal. There's much more to it then you may think!

Yes, in the past. Don't recall the company, but they covered several repairs to my Mark VIII...the tune of over $2000. It took some discussion on one of the repairs, but I got on the phone with both the shop and the warrantee company, and it was worked out in one phone call...

I know times have changed, and every company is trying to scam by with fine print, but as long as you can provide some proof of oil changes, there's really not much they can deny, unless they try to claim its expendable parts, and not a real malfunction. Which case an experienced shop would know how to fight back and get them to cover the claim for the customer.

Which one?? There are about 20 various companies that sell these plans. I called a couple other local Central FL dealers and they all sell a different plan/company.

Different dealers sell VSCs (vehicle service contracts) from different administrators. It's similar to buying a TV at BestBuy vs Wal-Mart. Similar coverage, but the warranty is admin'd by different companies.

I am in a similar situation here in Florida on the same car.. 11 max SV/ Teck.. the forst question for any online warranties.. is are you licensed in the state of Florida.. if not, it won't be honored here in Florida..

I am trying to find an offical Nissian extended "service" plan that is good in all 50 states.. which s not administered by some other company..

Having come from years of Ford ownership, I have done this often over the years.. in Troy Michigan, Troy Ford selld the same waranty any Florida Ford dealer sells, the difference is that buying this warranty from them in Michigan was not regulated pricing an d I got it for some $1000 cheaper!.. and it was good in Florida..

So I am trying to find the same thing now for my Max, AND a 08 Altima I am also buying now.. any help in this area would be great.. thanks

I've been burned several times on extended warranties. I've only had ONE occasion where my claim wasn't denied and my car got fixed. It was a 96 Taurus SHO and the alternator went out. The biggest fight I had was a Grand Cherokee that had slightly bigger tires than factory. Still had the stock wheels on it, and I took it in to a repair shop to have the a/c fixed. They denied my claim, saying that the "oversized" tires voided the warranty I purchased. So I had to cough up $800 dollars to fix it, and I might as well have taken that $2,500 dollars that the aftermarket warranty cost me and wiped my A** with that money and flushed it down the toilet.

If your car is a 2011, were you not able to get a certified pre-owned warranty from Nissan? I mean jeez, the car is practically brand new...
