Rarely do I hear people talking about the gains in torque you will get with mods. Is it becuase they don't give it ? (that would suck). Here's what I am going to put on in the very soon future:

1)Brian Catts CAI

2)Warpspeed Mandrel 2.5" Y

3)Custom 2.5" Cat-back exhaust with dual sides

I am expecting somewhere in the range of a 30-40HP increase with these. BUT, like the Honda-boys like to say "You can have all the HP you want but w/o torque it aint nuttin" . I am also '95 Autotragic so I NEED all the torque I can get.

Can anyone give me some estimates ?

Torque =

Not enough if you ask me. When I take off my SC, I will have similar mods: wsp ypipe, cai, and catback exhaust. However, adding NOS should take care of the lack of horsepower and torque.

Possible, but unless you get a dyno, it's going to be a guessing game.

Craig, you got the VB mod yet? If not, you should really consider this mod first.

Well I heard you talkin about how it is more of a preventitive thing rather than a performance upgrade, so I dont wanna spend the $. Plus I might convert to 5spd.

HP=(TQ x RPM)/5252. Its a direct relation. If peak HP increases with a certain mod, the TQ has increased, since its the TQ that actually makes the HP increase.

Well, actually you can feel the difference the VB will give you. Sure, it's designed to prolong your auto tranny. However, it still gives you some performance. On my stock wheels and tires, if I floor it, I would get tire spin, and would chirp second gear when it shifts. I don't notice this on my 17s and Dunlop tires though. This is all without the SC, so you could imagine how it is with the stock tires and SC.

I thought about doing a 5spd swap too, but it's not an easy process, more hassle than you could imagine. I'm going to just build up my auto tranny, maybe get a Level Ten rebuild later on. Then, maybe a torque converter and their shiftronic(when it becomes plug and play for imports like how it is for domestic right now).

It's cool though. Maybe it's for the better. After I finish school, I could buy whatever car I want. I'm not sad by any means because it's not like I'm stuck with a crapmobile.

Dunno about the custom exhaust...most give 2-3hp at most. It seems even with other exhaust/engine mods, the stock exhaust isn't that restrictive.

As for the ypipe/CAI combo, I would guess 15hp/15lb ft at the wheels would be a reasonable increase. 30-40hp? Nope.
