I have had a hard time finding out what I need to know so I figured I'd ask here.

I have the manual and have searched, but cannot seem to find the bolt pattern/torque rating for the transmission pan bolts on an '02 I35. Anybody know what those might be?

Also, I bought a Beck/Arnley transmission filter/gasket set. Will I need gasket sealant or can I just put the rubber gasket on, torque it down and go?

I've only taken the trans pan off of one other car in my life to drain and refill so I'm somewhat new to this but not new at all to working on cars. Anybody have any suggestions for me before I do this? I don't want to mess anything up.

I was able to answer my own question today.

The manual says 61-78 in lbs or 5.08 - 6.5 ft lbs for the pan bolts.

It says nothing about using gasket sealant although it does recommend replacing the pan bolts.

 

use gasket adhesive on the pan side to hold in place, the gasket can at times slip when bolting up

 

I think you're supposed to replace the bolts because they have sealer on them. I've reused mine and they work fine. They strip out VERY easy, so be careful. I didn't use any sealer on the gasket and had no leaks (changed it twice so far)
