can not go over 60 M

Hello all,

I have a 90 Maxima. When I drive in highway. I can not go over 60 mile per hour. The car starts to shake like anything. If I drive around 55 there is no problem. It runs smothly.
What's up with the car?

i had a similar problem. I went to have my tires rotated and was told that the alignment was way out and had caused uneven tire wear and made the tires unsafe. Got new tires, had them aligned and balanced, and it was all good.

I'm just wondering if this is an engine or suspension problem. Is it the steering wheel that starts to shake or does the engine start to stumble, run rough, etc? Is the shaking random and sputtery (like it's the engine) or is it regular, rhythmic, and increases with speed (like a tire/suspension problem)?

I also take it you mean that the car drives perfectly smoothly and normal below 60 without any vibration, thumping, noise or hints of anything?

When I bought my Max, I had the front end rebuilt except for the tie-rod ends. Everything from the steering knuckle bolts to the bolts in the engine bay were replaced. Same for rear. I also had three bent rims that were replaced. I put in Tokico Struts, Eibachs, and a FSTB. Car is very stable at 120 mph+ and hold the road very well for a 10 year old boat.

Before I had this work done, I was experiencing similar problems. Car was scary to drive. Also had "General" brand tires. God awful. Replaced them with Yokohoma AVS db. (225/60VR 15)
