Restoring Factory Rims on 96? Turn Signal problem?

Wassup fellaz,

Was wondering if anyone has ever restored the factory rims on their max, attempted, or knows the best way to do so. I've seen the threads on how to restore your rims by painting them and such, but I'm not trying to go that hardcore on em. It is mainly the clearcoat that is coming off and making them look unsexy from the looks of it. I was thinking of scraping the rest off and spraying a clearcoat on myself, but heard that it would so0n start cracking.

Plus, my turn signal fuse keeps burning out. Just bought some fuses for it (7.5) and they burn the second I press the turn signal. Not sure wth is up, but I hope one of u guys have an answer that's not abysmal. Thanks

You probably have a short in one of your bulb housings. Check to make sure nothing is touch in the housing and you have no leaks in there as well. In regards to the wheels, scuffing up the wheels and reclearing them won't get them to that factory shine. A full strip and paint job with a couple coats of clear will get them looking nice!

Would painting the wheels require hi temp paint like painting calipers, at least for it to last for the long term?

you don't need hi temp paint for your wheels. If you are looking to go the fiscally responsible way stripe them chemically or with a mechanical paint stripper and rattle can them with an appliance epoxy. Only thing maybe limited colors.
