Be Warned: TCI has Crappy Customer Service

I know this doesn't apply to our Maxima's, but some of you have musclecars or know someone who has one and this needs to made known. I have a 69 Cougar and ordered a new AOD transmission and torque converter from TCI at a cost of $2515 shipped.

The build was supposed to take 6wks; 4 for the trans and 2 for the converter. FF 10 weeks and 5 days later and my mechanic finally receives the crate. After installing the parts and sending my driveshaft out to be shortened, my car will not shift gears, the trans shudders as if the clutch plates are slipping and basically only has reverse.

After talking to TCI tech support my mech was told to crack open the trans and inspect the internals (thus voiding their extensive 90 day warranty) he refused of course. I called and got the run around for 3 days, they told me that I would have to pay to ship it back to them, which I refuse to do.

I'm still trying to get in touch with someone who can make the call and authorize a return. Bluf, if you deal with TCI let it be known that their customer service sucks and if you have a problem with their products you will spend hrs on the phone being transferred to other peoples voicemail or to Comp Cams one of their specialty stores.

Tell all your friends to stay away from TCI and their complete line of products.

The warranty says no warranty on "unauthorized repairs".
Your mechanic feels TCI tech support is unauthorized?

The warranty condidtions are on their website, and clearly say you're paying shipping.
You have the trans, they have your money...I wouldn't try and wait them out on this one.

Even though they still may do nothing, I'd report to BBB.org quickly.

this will definitely get them interested in working with you more actively. It could also possibly backfire (they might come after you legally since you have their product).
