3.5 intake installed and battery relocated - Idle problem
3.5" intake installed and battery relocated - Idle problem
So I moved my battery to the trunk and installed a 3.5" intake and now my car idles at 900-1000 rpm. When I disconnect the TPS it jumps up to 1800. Did I fry my ECU? I guess would give me a reason to install a manual one to get rid of the CELs....

i have to build a pnp switch bypass to do the procedure without consult. When I tried doing it according to this
1. Turn ignition switch “ON” and wait at least 1 second.
2. Turn ignition switch “OFF” and wait at least 10 seconds.
3. Start engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature.
4. Check that all items listed under the topic “PRECONDITIONING”,
EC-83, are in good order.
5. Turn ignition switch “OFF” and wait at least 10 seconds.
6. Start the engine and let it idle for at least 30 seconds.
7. Disconnect throttle position sensor harness connector (brown),
then reconnect it within 5 seconds.
8. Wait 20 seconds.
9. Make sure that idle speed is within specifications. If not, the
result will be incomplete. In this case, find the cause of the
problem by referring to the NOTE below.
10. Rev up the engine two or three times. Make sure that idle
speed and ignition timing are within specifications
the revs went to 1800 when disconnecting the TPS

This sounds like it could also be idle relearn as already stated.
If you can not get the base idle low enough when attempting to to the relearn, the ECU will not set properly. I eventually had to disconnect a fuel injector to cause the engine to idle lower during the relearn so the ECU would take it.
This procedure is posted somewhere on the forum if you search. It's been a while since I had to do it that way as a last resource. So i cant recall where it is...

I also installed the PFTB. I had all kinds of erratic idle issues. Id was up at 3000rpm and then dropping down to 1000 and jumping up and down to 1500. I got ready to swap out the TPS and get a new IACV. Called it a night tho after a an hour of messing with it in the dark. I came back to it the next morning just to have it start and idle perfectly at 680. Lol
