KYB struts on the back, is this how the 1999 SE's came?

I bought my car used January last year I was just curious if KYB struts are standard on 1999 SE?? I have always noticed that my car seemed lower than others and I was parked next to a another SE Limited Edition Max the other day my car was really, really lower. I have stock springs so I'm thinking the person before me must have put aftermarket struts but not springs, what do you think??

He may have cut the stock springs too. KYBs are not standard on any Maxima.

Struts do not lower cars...

Only aftermarket and/or cut springs can do this.

Yeah, I think he definitely had the stock springs cut. Well I was going to upgrade all struts and springs, but if I have performance struts already should I just get some high performance springs??

I'd go that route if I were you. The KYB's are probably GR2's. Good strut/shock - plenty durable. You probably have plenty of good mileage left in them unless he beat the pi$$ outta the car. Cut springs are hack. They were never engineered that way, no matter what anybody says, and YES, it does matter.

(Btw, you should probably find out for sure if the stock springs were cut, or if the previous owner put in lowering springs, before you decide to buy springs)

I'm assuming you're dissatisfied with the ride currently, or you wouldn't be considering an upgrade. This wouldn't surprise me if you are in fact riding on "cut springs."

You have a wide variety of options:

H&R
B&G
Eibach
Sprint

Use the "search" function to find all the info. you need on springs & various lowering heights, ride characteristics, etc.

Good luck!
