CEL 5.5 Gen

So today I go to my car, I go to start it up, and the check engine light was on, Now mind you I was already on my way to advanced auto needed to pick up fuses, so I bought a box, I needed one for the heated seats and cigerette plug.

Now mind you when I was looking at the fuse box I noticed there wasn't a fuse in the location for the O2 sensor, I put one in there, but before all this I had advanced check the codes with the code reader. It came out as an O2 sensor Low Bank P0031 I believe and to replace the ecm?

The one that worries me is replacing the ecm, Is it possible its saying this because there's a code and that would go away once I reset it? I'am hoping I didnt blow out the o2 sensor because i didn't have a fuse and fried the ecu in the process as well.

I wouldn't be too worried if I was you.

No need to be worried. You definitely won't have to replace the ECU. Whoever told you that is an idiot. If worse comes to worse you'll have to replace that O2 sensor.

If the fuse that was missing is in fact for that O2 that the code came up for, replacing the fuse like you did should solve it. Just clear the codes and see if it comes back. If it does, that O2 sensor will have to be replaced.

Why would it say the ecu needs replacing though?

Did you see that for yourself or did the guy tell you that?

Pick up a scanner for yourself. I put up a review on one yesterday in this same subforum.

Its what the code reader said, I'am hoping its just saying that because its throwing the code for the O2 sensor.

Get this scanner from Amazon:

Scan the codes again and clear them to see if they come back. It'll also be useful when you have another problem with your car.
