knocking noise from low gas?(hope)
knocking noise from low gas? Updated with video
A few days ago i parked the car with really low gas so low it didnt register on the miles to go readout just blinking.i was unable to stop to get gas due to a medical emergency.well this morning i go to start the car and it started knocking and bucking i cut it off and went and put 2 gal of gas in it and started it up.it took about 5 good minutes to start running smooth but there is a knocking noise going on now. i dont run the car hard and the oil level is fine plus the car wasnt making any of this noise when i parked it.could the low level of gas cause this knocking noise.i will add video in the morning in case some one could help me out.

Try to dump a can of BG 44K in your tank, fill your car up and drive it a few miles. It's possible that the fuel pump sucked in some gunk from your fuel tank while it was running on the last few drops of gasoline left...
Sounds like an engine knock from low oil, however you said that the oil level is fine ... ( I would re-check that) and change the oil and filter anyway. Second I would purchase (only available on line) a bottle of Auto-RX and add it to the oil crank case, to clean up any gunk and varnish inside the engine. The variable timing control valve has a very narrow passage way that can become blocked up and will cause that engine knock you are hearing. Also run a full can of seafoam in a full tank of gas to assist in cleaning up the fuel delivery system. Web link for the auto-ex http://www.auto-rx.com/ I have had this exact engine knock and it took two bottle and three oil changes over the course of one month to re-solve the issue. My problem didn't start with low fuel even though I had ran low a few times but it started from allowing the engine oil to get to low and pushing crap up into the variable timing solenoid. I did get warning signs of an issue but like you was not sure what was causing them. The warning signs were the engine idle would drop very low when stopped at a traffic light (200-300 rpm) and the car had stalled a couple of times again when approaching a traffic light to stop. I was able to get the engine to re-cover after several oil changes and running the auto-rx and seafoam in the gas tank, there was a point when I thought the engine was going to need to be re-placed. I am currently at 250,000km I had this problem over 50,000km ago so there is still hope that you can re-cover the engines performance. Here's a video of what my engine noise was like.

After one month of cleaning and three oil changes and seafoam treatment: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bnaOHSdaZPg
Sorry I should also add to my comments that I did start throwing an engine code (P0300) multi misfire code and I had already changed the plugs when I install NWP spacers and changed the rear valve cover to the 04 version, my engine troubles as far as I can tell stemmed from not keeping an eye on the engines oil level.
