The Post To Answer It All (Buying Maxima)

Nissan Maxima GLE $24894
Add Sunroof w/Def $25717

Nissan Maxima SE $23411
Add Leather Pack $26534

I am going to buy a maxima soon and need to resolve some problems. I have posted them before but spread out and barely any where resolved. At first I wanted to buy an SE but recently alot of people have been making comments about how the spoiler looks slightly out of place... to small and making the back of the car look strange... as this is going to be the car I am proud of for a long time (I own a Ford Escort 95... and feel like ****) I want it to look damn nice to everyone.I was debating on if I should just buy the GLE.

What do you think about the back of the maxima's with and without the stock spoiler... also has anyone seen nice aftermarket spoilers that looked good without being too ricey? and if I decided to go with the stock spoiler should I just get a GLE with spoiler, its just $26088 total. I don't mind the suspension difference much since later I am going to replace it.

Also. Besides the same color door handles (which i like) and the guages (whats so different about them anyways what is the difference between the two?

I know: Susension, Rims, Tires, Door Handles, Guages, Spoiler

Anything else?

Edit: It has to be an auto (skip the questions)

available 6spd in SE

'nuf said

available HLSD in 6spd (when it's available)
Merlot paint not available on GLE (in Canada - not sure about US)
6-spoke wheels on SE (7-spoke on GLE)
225/50VR-17 on SE (215/55HR-17 on GLE)
titanium-look interior trim on SE (simulated wood on GLE)
titanium-tinted guages on SE (not sure about the colour of the GLE)
3258 lbs curb weight SE (3271 lbs GLE)

Either car will be fine. It should just be what you like. Personally, I like the blacked out door handles on the SE as opposed to the chrome on the GLE.

As far as the spoiler goes, I've never liked spoilers on most production cars. They usually look like after-thoughts. That being said, I think the Max needs the spoiler. I'm not particularly fond of the tail lights on the 5th gen. Mind you, I never have to look at it so it doesn't bother me.

Good luck with your choice, but remember that it shouldn't matter what others think about the car - you're going to be paying for it, not them.

I thought the wood-trim was only an option. I dislike the wood trim.

• Wood trim is standard on GLE, at least in Canada it is.

• Since you don't care for a 6 speed, (which is really a shame) and you don't care for the spoiler, then the GLE sounds like your trim level. The nice thing I like about a factory spoiler is that it has integrated LED stop light.

...besides the same color door handles (which i like) and the guages (whats so different about them anyways what is the difference between the two?
• Functionally there is nothing different. The SE has silver painted round circles for the tach and speedo. The other trim levels have white lettering on black backround. Didn't your dealer show you these models side by side? If he doesn't have both on the lot, find a dealer who does. You're gonna be plunkin' down a good chunk-o-dough, so you should see first hand what you're buying to make an informed decision, not from 1 or 2 photos in a brochures. See, feel, touch, smell, hear, drive the experience, and only then you can truly decide.

• Door handles could probably be painted the body color when you get the aftermarket spoiler painted.

I agree with akrus, YOU'RE the one buying the car and YOU'RE gonne be driving it. So get the one that best meets your needs.

Good luck

You really can go wrong with which ever max you choose.

Please though If you get the GLE with aftermarket spoiler make sure they remove your third brake light inside the rear window of your car. I think that looks nastisy on any car with a after market spoiler.

I have the SE with charcoal leather I like the look of both the SE and GLE. I have add the woodtrim to my car(3D molded EB) and the AE chrome doorsills I think they go well with the charcoal interior. I'm more for the luxary/sporty look.

What color are you interested in with your Max that can make a diffrence on weather to go with the SE or GLE.
