New Tires: Continential Exterme Contact DWS
New Tires: Continential Exterme Contact DWS
So my Goodyear Eagles are nothing but a terrible nightmare now!!
I searched high and low for these Continental Extreme Contact DWS tires ultimately I found them about 40 miles from me at a STS Auto Center.
Bought them and had them installed, then almost immediately drove 1200 miles from NY to FL. The car felt much smoother and more responsive on the road. Haven't driven in the rain or other inclement weather yet, so I'll have to report back when I do. Hopefully these new tires will serve me well during our ever changing Long Island winters...
the tires look nice on the car too!
just thought I would comment....

Great choice! The DWSs are very nice tires. I bought some last winter for my Sentra. My daily commute was from Dover, DE to DC - about 1000 miles a week. The Continentals were awesome! When a deer totaled me at the end of April, I took them off and put them on my son's Versa. I'll be buying a set here in the next couple of weeks for Blaxima.
sorry to hijack the thread somewhat but I also purchased new tires recently to replace the dealer installed (under warranty when the car was two weeks old) MXM4's.
I went with the Mich. MXV4's this time around. Although they are expensive, they seem to perform very well and are very smooth riding. They are not a tire designed for handling but they do well in my "spirited" driving as tire rack would say.
Since I have the 18" wheels and do mostly city driving, I was really looking for a tire that rides well and can perform in a variety of weather.
Overall very happy so far

I just got back from my local tire dealer about 30 minutes ago. The factory Goodyears had 22K on them, and also had some treadlife left in them. But the snow and water traction on them sucked. Last year I could not get up my slighty sloped concrete driveway in 3 inches of snow without them spinning like crazy.
I wanted to get the Continental tires, but they are hard to come by in my area and are usually on backorder on Tirerack.com, so I also went with the Michelin MXV4s. Got them in for $946. Yes steep but worth the traction abilities.

Continental DWS to replace stock
I just picked up my 2011 Maxima SV w/prem yesterday. I live in Michigan and really think that these tires will be crap. Does anyone know if the Tire shop would take my stock tires on trade in (aka prorate them since they are basically new) and give me a substantial discount on the DWS tires. I had just put the DWS's on my 02 BMW 530i and they were the best tires I have ever had when it came to wet traction and avoiding hydroplaning. I can't say for snow, but they are rated really well by Tire Rack.
