yeah go with black, if you go with colors it just screams "look at my small brakes"
the advantage to painting them is you can paint the rotor hats too, which for me always looked rusty too. i painted my calipers and rotor hats with a black brush-on kit from autozone about 9 months ago and everything still looks great. its awesome not having rusty looking brakes anymore

yeah painting took about .. an hour and 12 bucks? covers dont address the issue of the rotor hats being rusted too, so it only solves half your problem if appearance is your concern. the easiest/laziest method isnt always the best
i would be concerned with moisture getting trapped in the covers and causing long term issues....the painting really isnt that bad...and it does last a while...i had it on my spec v for 5 years and just recently started to need some touch up..
"What type of BBK do you have?? Those calipers are huge!"
"Uh, I dont. Those are cheap plastic caliper covers."
"Oh,....hahahahahahahahaha."
thats part of the reason why i painted black instead of red or another color. if i get a BBK they'll be a color to attract attention. otherwise i dont want people staring at my stock brakes, i mean they're stock brakes who will be impressed.
i was just tired of the hat/caliper looking rusty so i feel you on wanting to cosmetically clean them up anyway. yea def a Spring time mod, everyone winds down for the Winter
I think black or silver (to look like new) are good. Anything else is unncecessary. I don't think the covers look good, besides faking a BBK look, they actually look like plastic but it's not the worst add-on I have ever seen.
I'll stick to my red painted calipers
I have so much grey and black on my car i need something to offset it. I don't want to look like a black blob speeding down the street. I'll consider a BKK when i need to change my pads and rotors. Until then i'm fine with my miniature BBK.

Slotted or Drilled Rotors from Tirerack - 118 per rotor, Hawk HPS pads - 73 set, or 80 for ceramics = 320 for the high end....Hell they even have Brembo Blanks for $50 each I will even throw 120 in for SS brake lines...440 for brakes that are 1. better than stock, off the shelf replacements, OE fitment, good value.
Stillen or AP Racing BBK - $1200-2200 depending on where you look.....replacement parts can a PITA
Really are you going to drop a quick grand or 2 on brakes when you need them, or a couple hundred bux.....now i dont know you or your finances one bit and I have no clue why that statement bothered me but it did...and I had to vent. I apologize for being a douche just then....again if you got big plans for the car i do apologize and all the luck to you...

No offense taken, though i am a bit confused why my slightly sarcastic comment irritated you so much. My main point was i like my red "mini BBK ie OEM" calipers and that i'm not going to go drop 2k for a BBK when my OEM pads and rotors are fine.
If i came off wrong somehow i apologize. It was more of an offhand lighthearted comment than anything

haahaa...i think i just read it real quick and actually thought you were serious....my bad...and I have no clue why it bothered me either.. I have just seen too many people on this forum and many others quick to say and do things before they really sit and think about it and decide if it is really worth it or just for show and what not
