Installed remote start and decided to remove the clear plastic that covers the dash cluster. The wife's owner before me wiped it with something and made streaks show up I can't get out. Anyway when putting the dash back in I hit the needle on the tach. I put it back on 0 unstarted but noticed that now when it off it sets way before the 0 and when at a light or just setting it idles not even past 1000 rpms.

You speaking of idle once the engine is fully warmed up? Mine sits around 600-650 revs or so once fully warm. You may also want to get an OBD-II scanner to ensure your tach matches what's being pulled by the scanner as a safety precaution.

When it's off does it set on 0 or before the 0?

Well crap, that's what I thought. I shut it of and put it on 0 but it ends up setting itself back over night. Nissan wants $85 just to reset it. Oh well if it needs done it needs done. Thanks for the help guys.

yea only way to do it yourself would be to have an OBD tool pulling info from the ECU. then you could turn the car on and set the needle to whatever RPMs show in the ECU and voila. if you have an Android smartphone you can buy a $40 bluetooth OBD-II adapter off eBay and a $4 app named Torque can do it for ya
