the 300Z rotors will fit, but will not clear the stock 17" wheels. Either you will need spacers, or use rims that have a smaller offset...

you'll need to mill 2mm off the radius of the z rotors for it to clear the z calipers. and a different wheel because of the off set.. the calipper is pushed out a lil further than the stock one making it rub on the spokes

You don't have to get the Big brake kit. Stillen makes a Pro Sport(?)Brake rotor for front and rear. You would only have to replace the rotors and the brake pads. You can keep your stock calipers this way. Also you can still use your spare donut. The rotors are crossdrilled.

I have them and they are EXCELLENT! Stock rotors SUCK BIG *SS!!! Braking from 120 is a dream. I'll never go back to the sucky stock rotors. I think I paid a little over $600 for everything.

I forgot who I got it from... I think it was Phuong.

fastbrakes.com

fastbrakes.com has a pretty sweet deal for the maxima:

12.2" 2pc rotors with 4 piston Wilwood calipers for _way_ less than a Stillen kit. Much lighter than OEM as well.

If you are going to go for a real brake upgrade to do racing then definately consider replacing getting a big brake kit. But if you just want to replace your warped stock rotors with something a little better and affordable. Go with just replacing the rotors with crossdrills and pads.

I read through my backlog of emails, I got my Stillen crossed drills and pads from avalonracing.net. It comes out much cheaper than getting a big brake kit. Under $1000 for front and rear rotors replaced and installed with stainless steel brake lines.

Fastbrakes/Wilwood kit went for about $900 in the group deal.
Rotors, brackets, pads, calipers, adapters for OEM lines.

Needed 2 washers to clear the rotor spacing, Even with that I was kinda wary.
I e-mailed fast brakes about the brake kit, they said they're working on a kit for 2000 right now and to try back in a month.

Re: fastbrakes.com

Hogan, did you measure these already?
I thought 5th gens had the same 10.8" diameter, but a thicker rotor (1" vs .86"?) Wilwood is 1.25".

I tried talking to Baer about a 2piston "Track" kit for the Maxima. On the phone they said that they needed X number of cars and a guinea pig car, but they never got back to me. When I emailed them, they flatly stated "No options for the Maxima. See Stillen or Brembo". Gee thanks.

They're "Track" kits list for $700 for Preludes, ITRs and DSMs. 13"x1.1" rotor. We should outnumber the Preludes and ITRs big time.

I think those kits use 1pc rotors though. The GTP kits use 2pc rotors and may be most comparable to the Wilwoods. But they seem to cost about as much as the Fastbrakes kit.

At this rate I'm curious to see of Fastbrakes or Cheston will ever produce the OEM caliper on larger rotor kits that have been talked about.

fastbrakes.com bracket issue

My original concern was over the grinding and I asked if there was a way to modify the bracket instead.
Brian supposedly has figured out how to make the new bracket, but hasn't produced any yet for one reason or another. I've left my kit unopened waiting for the new bracket. We're supposed to swap brackets when he's done.

At this point I may sell my fastbrakes kit and wait for another GD or another option such as new brackets/rotors for OEM calipers.

Baer told me on the phone only 5 cars if they had a test car show up at their shop, but they never followed up. Will the 12.5" fit under 16" rims? Are you using the 1pc 1.1", 1pc 1.25" or 2pc 1.25" rotor?
On their website they say that the 13"x1.1" Track kit can fit under some 16" wheels. I was hoping that a 12.5"x1.1" Sport kit (or even better the 13"x1.1" Track kit) would fit OEM 16" wheels. This group should eat those up.

Heck, if I had a template, I've been in contact with an OEM wheel manufacturer. I'd have the minimum # of sets made to clear the kits!

philpoe, Yeah I measured the brakes on my 2K and my 2K2.
Bottomline is that they still suck donkeh ballz. I have better brake feedback in my Pathfinder. Better paint on the Pathfinder too. Thats besides the point. I did my 2 piston front brake conversion using 12.5" rotor and custom fabbing a bracket for the PBR 2 piston Caliper. I swapped around w/ Q45 caliper, but it was more weight. I've been thinking about that stupid bracket for the 300ZX brakes, but I'm stuck behind a desk.
BAER told me buy in minimum 20 sets, and I need to send in a spindle assembly. I said give me 2 piston PBR caliper and let me work with that. Went through a whole discussion in another thread about it.

BTW did Fastbrakes ever fix that bracket problem which made the caliper touch the rotor ?

Philpoe, I was installing Confused's Fastbrakes kit and hit that same problem, so we used washers to gap it so it would clear.
I just bought the caliper and used Project u (mew) 12.5" rotors since my dad's friend sent me a set of R33 17" skyline wheels, and I made the bracket around that. I started to play w/ Q45 calipers but were heavier than the PBR BAER ones. I swapped them out and just got a 5th gen right side spindle assembly, and will play with those for a while. The 4th Gen one was given to a close friend of mine who is working on the 300ZX brakes to use Brembo 13x1.25 blank rotor. I didn't have access to anyone's 16s. My PBR setup cleared my factory 17s w/ a H&R 5mm spacer. W/o it, it was close, but I installed the 5mm spacer so it would be safe. I used it for a few weeks, but I was gonna sell the car for 02 Altima, but after driving one for a whole day, and switching cars again, I couldn't part w/ my Maxima yet. I eventually claimed warped rotors on my car, and got a good hook up and got my entire brake system replaced and even flushed for free.

-I abuse the System, now I work for them.
Any other brake experts??????????????????????????????? That kit from eatrice sounds good.

I was just going to ask about my 2k2 too.
I know it all relative, but my car brakes pretty good. So I would elect to upgrade to the same size rotors, but cross drilled w/ better pads. I'll put the $1,000 towards some SSR Comps!

You'll need a little more for the SSR Type Cs $1000 is enough for 2.25 wheels lol
