Factory Installed Spoiler for $400. Is this reasonable

A dealer on the weekend quoted me 400 to supply and install a factory spoiler for a 99 Maxima. Does this sound reasonable or is it on the high side. Do you need to reinforce the trunk lifts if you add a spoiler. Also does the truck lid tend to rust where the holes were drilled for the spoiler. Thanks in advance

Is there a problem with matching the paint from a different car.
There is some wiring that has to be done also to hook up the spoilers brake light correct?

My local dealer said...

$600 on my car. And they don't even colormatch so the color would be OEM on my faded car. My bodyshop told me it was best for me to get the spoiler myself and them paint it. Spoiler = $120. Paint = $150. All done = $270.

you can buy the spoiler PAINTED for 185$. check ebay. Or go to a place like spoilers4less.com i think they are 99$ for our cars there.. if not, there are other places where they are 99$. not painted though...
it should cost less then 100$ to paint it. If install is 1 hour, then it's like 50-70$. So that's less then 250-260$ all together. These spoilers are not OEM though, they are replica's.. but pretty much same sh*t. Don't think there is any difference.

Check with your local trade schools. They will not charge you labor costs. Just parts.

You're talking about the factory-style wing, right? Don't get a genuine Nissan unit... they suck. They have metal plates at the bases of the pylons that eventually rust-out and cause the wing to come apart, and the wings sag after a few years. Get an aftermarket one. You can get them on Ebay for $75 unpainted. Then $140 to have it painted and installed (all USD). Make sure the body shop person paints the holes after he drills the boot lid so that they don't rust.
