I kinda raced one once. He got the jump on me good at a light. One of those, not sure if we were racing things. But he got at least a one car jump on me and I never caught up. But that was only to about 50mph. who knows what would have happened if we kept going. I believe they are heavy cars. Not sure though. Probably not in the same class as the maxima either.

Maxima Vs Diamante

I Raced a 2000 Diamante in my 2000 maxima se (stock) and in my 1990 maxima (stock)

it is my friend so we were able to do some stuff in the street. his is stock too.

in my 2000 maxima well on the highway he was pulling away from me at speeds bet. 80mph and 100mph
but on the street we both got to a stop sign a tried a sort of drag strip thing... we did this at every stip sign for about 4 blocks and it was the same everywhere... I would get a better start and would pull away half a car length and then he would keep up with me at that speed the whole way... i think they are pretty even cars... suprisingly my 1990 maxima kept up pretty good to his diamante

all 3 cars are auto

Diamantes are crap....

I raced a guy one night on Flatlands Ave. in Brooklyn. He pulls up next to me with his system booming, looking over at my Max like I have the inferior vehicle. So I look over at him and and just grin (do you really feel lucky... punk?!?)
The light went green and I let him go first. I hear his Diamante screech off, so I then floor it in pursuit. I nudged my nose right up to his passenger door, then the light went red. By the time the light went green it was war again. I took it easy on the launch and had the Diamante for a snack. All the lights went green like a christmas tree and I left him. I have to admit at first I wasn't too sure but I figured with the weight penalty and lack of manual transmission Max would have advantage. I thought it was cute when he chirped!!!

Dude lets face it, the Max is one of the best front wheel drive V6 Jap sedans.

I took off at a light against a 98 possibly 99 Diamante, I had a 95 GXE-5spd at the time, I got a one and a half car lenght on him which I kept up to about 110. That's when this jeep cut me off and I left about a block of tire thread behind.

I test drove a 99 diamante this summer. I also test drove an older one...like 94 diamante. i thought the older ones were faster, but not quite sure. THey are alot heavier than the max and aren't as fast from 0-60, but from like 70-100 they are about even. THey seem to be even bigger than the max to in cabin size. They are also great to smoke large amounts of weed in because they usually or are always in automatic. I have never seen a stick diamante. I do however think they are a sick looking ride for a decent price. If they do come in stick I think they may be even or faster than the max. The only sedan I ever lost to was a 95 legend with the nsx engine in it...and I was f-cking killed...like 3 car lengths from 0-70mph.

I drove my budies last week...

they are suprisingly quick for their size. 0-60 you can win pretty easy, 70-100 they have good pull :dead-even Definatly quick for their size

The Legend Type-II Engine is NOT an NSX engine. Legends never had VTEC. They achieved 230 HP with displacement. 3.2 Liters. The NSX had a 3.0 liter engine back then. Only in the later models. I think 97+ did it get a 3.2 liter. The legend engine may be SOHC also. Not sure about that. The NSX didn't gain a 6th gear either till about 97.

Hold ya horses Zum....

NSX 91-96 dohc 3.0 V6. NSX 97+ 3.2 dohc V6. Come on now, NSX is a sports car of course it has double overh-head cams. And lets not forget this was the car to pioneer V-Tec for Honda.

NSX still happens to be one of my favorite sports cars. When you see one in person it just speaks for itself.

The newer Diamante's have 205HP and 231 ft-lb torque, but they are about 500lbs heavier than the fourth gen maxima. Just imagine putting three fat people in your car and trying to race....it doesn't help. So unless you have more people in the car, you should win...but not by much.
