questions about both i30s

Well area weeks ago we added an 01 i30T(140k) for 3g, along my 99 i30T (110k for $2200). Both cars are nice. My i30 has been through some trials and tribulations. But im gonna start with the 01.

Had a bad compressor. Replaced it upon replacing it I discovered the damn core support is no ****ing more! So the from crossmember is hanging about an inch. I read up here you can buy the bottom half and install it. Does that apply to the 2nd gen i30. Also in warm weather the fans stay on when the engine reaches normal temp. My 99 cycles on and off. And they sound like they're on high. Whereas mine are on low.

The I30s and Maximas have (among a few others) a sort of achilles heel in the case of the radiator core support. There are entire radiator core supports sold which I believe require to be bolted to the framing and and some welding.

I notice this problem developing on my 2000 I30t and I also had run into this problem with my 98 Maxima. At the time my radiator core support was completely rusted allowing the engine and cross member that connects at the center to hang free. To alleviate the engine from sagging, I made friends with a mechanic that had a welder and bought a three foot L shaped steel beam with three inch flanges and had him weld the bottom of the core support. It has been almost two years since this repair and it has withstood the elements with ease.

It's not pretty but it works. Take the car to a mechanic and see if they have a solution to offer you. If not take on the task of fitting a new support to your car.

I just talked to a mechanic friend of mine. I always help him with part,s etc. I told him about the situation and he told me what he was gonna do. And gave me a good price. It helps to know certain people.

No no. I was stating that on the 01 the fans come on and stay on in warmer weather vs my 99 where they cycle on and off. Also it seems that the 01 fans are on high?

My main issue is the support. Can't I buy the bottom half separate?
