That would be interesting, however my concern would be the limiting factor on how much power the CVT could handle.

No one has done it because the CVT cant hold the boost most likely. There is a guy on here that ran a 75 shot at the drag strip, hes got a white maxima with black trim. Cant remember his name.

ya i've been told that among other mods...having nitrous wouldn't be a bad idea...just sucks that you would have to keep refilling the bottle...

It has been done on the 2.5 altimas and I think one 3.5 altima over on Nico, both with CVT.

What this car would benefit from is better off the line performance. Once this car does get moving it's actually quite impressive. A turbo isn't really going to address the standing start acceleration issue very much. I wouldn't even waste the money with one on this "daily driver" car.
In my mind it always seems to come back to the CVT. The Achilles heel of the drive train for the hot rodder.

Subarus have CVTs, the Legacy GT and 3.6R have CVT and those things are quick. CVTs can handle the power, its just you dont see many FWD cars with 300+ horses. FWD is the problem.

I wouldn't even bother with Turbocharging, if you're gonna do any boosting at all then I believe supercharging is the way to go on a very low boost setting of no more than 5lbs.

I have been researching this quite awhile, Can't even find the turbo kits or supercharged kits for the Maxima. If so, link me. I was thinking about putting a shot of nos in the whip, Idk though, eventually in a year or 2 I am going to be getting another car and getting rid of this one, So I think it would be wise to just keep it simple with things I can take out easily/off easily.

The famous words of saying that its impossible to put a Turbo in the Max bc of CVT is wrong. Anything is possible, things get accomplished for those who work hard research hard, have the time, and money to do these things.

^^^The guy made a valid point on saying why put a Turbo on a DD car. That is true, not worth it unless you have a few other cars to play with.

HA! You guys think the CVT can't handle it?? I don't think the VQ in these cars can handle it. I really thought they were pretty bulletproof, but after my last oil analysis, I have SERIOUS concerns. After beating the **** out of my 2007 Altima 3.5SE, it had PERFECT oil analyses every time.

This car (2010 Maxima)...is highly unpredictable and, apparently, kind of fragile. After 6000 miles on this oil change and frequent redline (new RL y-pipe installed) to check out the new power....my lead was elevated as well as iron...indicating bottom-end wear. And this isn't the only time the lead and iron (and copper and aluminum) have been elevated.

Essentially, I think Nissan has changed something with the added 20+hp to make these motors a bit weaker in terms lf wear.

Either way....the CVT has taken a beating and been great with my car. The engine concerns me. I don't think it would handle boost without some bottom end upgrades.

Late,
Trav

Well YOUR VQ may be absolutely fine to tolerate the abuse. MY VQ is not. The CVT is the strong point between the two with my 2010.

ORR as a better alternative...the 6spd from the Sentra SE-R which has the limited slip differential. They both use the RS6F52A transaxle. Same transmission with better power delivery. YEAH!
