Lots of rattling and clicking
Lots of rattling and clicking
Hey everyone,
So i posted earlier about what sounds to be pots and pans crashing into each other somewhere under my car, perhaps near the rear. I tried to shake the exhaust for movement, as one member suggested, but to no avail. Not really sure what I was looking for, but there was not much movement, nor any clunking sound. So I am clueless again.
But my main issue had begun a while ago, but it seemed harmless, and I just assumed I gathered a new rattle under my hood and ignored it. I want to say this and that clunking happened around the same time, not sure if there is any relevance. Anyway, so the sound started out as that card in the bike spokes. I read up on it here as something perhaps pre-cats. Didn't sound like a major issue at the time, and I gave myself time and decided to bring it in later. (I have not yet). Well today I was driving along and now the ticking/clicking got much louder to the point I was coming up on some people on the street and they turned to see what the awful noise was. It happens whenever I take my foot off the gas, or lessen the amount of pressure added to the pedal. Understand that it appears the sound is almost always there, but becomes much louder and more coherent when I let my foot off the gas. It does not sound like a knock. Rather very loud ticking or clicking. At about 2500-3000 RPM when I let off the gas it is horridly loud. I was driving down a street where the houses were close to the road and it echoed so loudly. I had to roll my windows up to ignore it because it really upsets me
lol
So I'm planning to take it to a shop tomorrow to have it looked at. It's only gotten worse. I haven't gotten around to changing the oil yet. It's probably coming close to being due. Don't know if that would be a factor, doubt it.
Any ideas would help! I want to have it looked at, to see what the mechanics think it could be. Then I'll compare with what I read on here. This way if its similar, I won't get jipped. Thanks everyone!

I checked probably a week or two ago before these problems had really gotten this loud. I'll take another look today. Hope thats the cause of the sound. Thanks!
