Needing some help org members!

Noobie here...Oldie at NissanClub. Here is my question...I threw a rod in my 00 dek...swapped a 01 dek in place of it. Yes I know in 01 they eliminated the EGR...but that is my issue...I have searched for multiple hours addressing the SES issue that also causes limp mode. But have not found how to solve it! I learned that when it does go into limp mode...I turn my car off and back on and limp mode no longer exists but this is a pita. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I wasn't aware they eliminated the EGR with the 01 DEK. Where the hell have I been?

I knew it was done in 02-03.

When you say limp mode, what exactly do you mean?

Are there a locations in the 01 engine to install the EGR parts? What I mean is are the EGR ports blocked off with a plate?

If there is no location to install the EGR parts I think you'll have to change out your ECU to an 01 to match.

What does limp mode mean? I thought it would just throw an SES code since the EGR is emissions only and really doesn't/shouldn't affect performance. You may want to try connecting the EGR temp sensor to the harness and see if that changes anything.

According to the 01 FSM, EGR is still there.

Odd because I looked up EGR on Tri-Cities Nissan and it shows parts listing, but no diagram. When you click no the part is says "Not available".

Yes in 2001 they blocked off the EGR...FSM is WRONG LOL...imagine that. I did indeed hook up the temperature sensor to the harness and still causes the same issue. Yes it is all blocked off...even the exhaust manifold is different because of the EGR delete. That is why it does not show that the 2001 DE-K is not exactly interchangeable with the 2000 DE-K. What I mean by limp mode is a little different than when the MAF fails...The engine light kicks on and will not allow me to go beyond 2500 rpms or so...It starts bucking. But if I stop and restart it...the engine light stays on but the limp mode goes bye bye...but at this rate I will be replacing the starter twice a year HaHa!

I am not familiar enough with these engines yet to make an educated suggestion. Just a stab in the dark though: Is it possible for you to use your old intake & exhaust manifolds?

Yes I could use the old exhaust manifolds but that won't help...It would only give me the use of the EGR tube...but as far as hooking up the entire system...its a no. It's completely deleted off this engine...Also reguarding using a 2001 ECM...Does it have the same pigtail plug ins...is it plug and play? Or are we talking a complete wiring harness? And I figured a resistor would not work as the ecu is probably looking for variable values according to temperature...hence the temp sensor plugged into the egr...

Well members...here is what I have done...since I don't believe in not possible lol...of course as stated above I have the EGR Temp sensor pluged in...I then took off that looks to be the top half of the EGR pump off the 00 DE-K and pluged it in also and for the mean time have placed it in the dead space in front of the coolant reservoir. So far...no engine light and no limp mode upon start up! Oh could it be!

Engine swap and did you swap the PCM/ECM/ECU? Where did the engine come from? You will need to match tranny as in AT/MT and With W/O TCS. I would compare the '00 '01 FSM harness diagrams my gut says you are okay. There are differences in the throttle drum '00 and '01 but I suspect you may need to tune the TSP (EC_116) or Haynes 6-10 and the 0505/0140 will go away. Swap out and rekey the PCM ( apparently some locksmiths can rekey and always the dealer w/tow) and the EGR limp goes away too. Nothin like jumpin with both feet in it. Good L:uck
